**The Deferred Compensation and Cross-Border Tax Analyst role operates within the Total Rewards portfolio of HR Shared Services. The role provides tax support for Citis deferred compensation plans and other cross-border tax initiatives. The role supports the Equity Compensation Unit, which has responsibility for administration of employee equity award and deferred compensation programs, including stock awards and deferred cash, in approximately 75 countries.**


This position is part of Citis Cross Border Employment Tax group with strong interface and collaborative relationship with; Global Mobility/Expatriate Unit (GMU), Equity Compensation Program Managers, Payroll, Tax, Finance, Legal, and Regional partners. The successful candidate will have a general tax background, as well as strong research and advanced spreadsheet application skills. Global Accounting firm experience with international tax for cross-border employee transfers and/or deferred compensation is preferred.


**Roles and Responsibilities**


+ In collaboration with the Cross-Border Tax Senior Manager, provide daily tax support for Citis deferred compensation plans

+ Manage and ensure the accuracy of the tax withholding and reporting that is applied to all stock award vests and deferred cash trailing payments

+ Manage tax process for Citis annual deferred compensation bulk vest process and deferred cash payouts, including:

+ Review/update demographic data for plan participants

+ Coordinate with regional and country coordinators to ensure correct tax rates/withholdings for all employees, including local nationals, expatriates, and business travelers

+ Coordinate with external vendor to send/receive transactions; monitor and review the vest transaction flow between external vendor and Citi

+ Review tax calculations for accuracy

+ Review outbound/inbound feeds between Equity Comp and US Payroll; review tax results from US Payroll, including in-depth review of S16 officers


+ Coordinate with expatriate vendor for expats who have a US reporting/withholding obligation

+ Assist with annual refresh of deferred compensation global due diligence

+ Respond to inquiries from current/former employees, managers, functional partners, with regards to tax withholding/reporting applied to stock vests and deferred cash payouts

+ Manage testing of tax results in Citis internal equity comp system, including documenting system requirements, testing tax specific logic, system enhancements, upgrades, conversions, etc.

+ Assist with detailed tax review for executive deferred comp payouts

+ Coordinate with US and global payrolls to ensure tax reporting is handled correctly for deferred comp transactions and other cross-border situations

+ Provide support to short-term business visitor and cross-border remote work processes, including determining appropriate taxation for Citis global business travelers and remote workers and partner with larger cross-border tax team to ensure correct global payroll reporting

+ Assist with other cross-border tax initiatives, as necessary

**Qualifications:**


+ 4+ years of experience, Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on MS Excel

+ Ability to meet deadlines while dealing with multiple priorities

+ Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

+ Tax experience/background required; international cross-border tax and/or deferred compensation/equity experience preferred
