UW Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for an evening shift, FULL-TIME (100%) HOSPITAL CENTRAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN 1 in our UWMC Central Supplies Processing Department (CSPD).  Under general supervision, the person in this position will receive, pick up, decontaminate, assemble, peel pack, and sterilize following established procedures.

  • Pick up and transport soiled instruments, case carts, basins, respiratory items and patient equipment from all patient care areas to the decontamination area for reprocessing.

  • Assemble and set up patient equipment such as IV pumps, vacuum regulators (wall suction), chest pumps, hyper/hypothermia units; test and make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.

  • Load and operate semi-automatic cart washer to clean case carts, utility carts, patient chairs, etc.

  • Perform, analyze, and document sterilizer function tests using vacuum, chemical and biological indicators; take appropriate action for abnormal results.

  • Load autoclave carts and sterilize  surgical instrument sets and respiratory equipment, through terminal sterilization using either steam or sterrad sterilization.

  • Inventory shelf level of processed items; rotate trays and products to accommodate inventory movement before shelf-life expiration dates; remove outdated trays and products from shelves.

  • Load and unload linen carts for steam sterilization.

  • Unload autoclave carts and place sterile instruments and linens in proper location in case cart area.

  • Decontaminate all soiled instruments according to Procedure and Policy standard.

  • Inspect, test, and assemble, package based on the guidelines. 

  • Verify correct sterilization cycles by document with signature on the sterilizer printout.

  • Scan sterile peel pack and trays and stock to shelf.

  • Perform related duties as required.

One year of experience as a Hospital Central Service Technician Trainee or equivalent or equivalent education/experience.

IAHCSMM certification.
