UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a FULL-TIME VARIABLE SHIFTS, HOSPITAL CENTRAL SERVICES SUPERVISOR.
The Central Processing Supervisor, under general direction of the Manager, provides leadership, makes decisions, and sets goals for assigned sections in OR.  This includes Central Processing (including decontamination, instrument room, supplies, case carts), the transportation team, O.R. Assistants, and other assigned O.R. ancillary personnel.

REQUIREMENTS:
OrganizationsRESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Clinical/Operations Coordination, includes:
     Operations: Supervises day-to-day operations of the assigned sections or work groups.  Facilitates daily scheduling and staffing. Coordinates, facilitates, and expedites completion of patient care activities. Prioritizes work and resources to meet customer service expectations.   Assures that staff members receive proper orientation / training and perform work competently. Serves as a technical expert resource, problem solver and role model.  Answers questions, takes action to resolve problems, issues, complaints. Provides management coverage in the absence of Manager.
     Clinical Coordination/Standards:  Assists Manager in developing, evaluating and implementing standards of practice for assigned sections.   Acts as resource to staff regarding established standards, hospital policies and procedures. Monitors and maintains staff compliance with standards, protocols, policies, procedures, and regulatory/accreditation requirements.
     Supplies/Equipment: Performs inventory and orders adequate supplies. Oversees equipment management, maintenance and calibration. Assists Manager in determining need and justification for capital equipment.
     Provides coverage: Performs staff duties during short staffing or to maintain skill levels, or as scheduled.
     Committees and Collaboration: Leads and/or participates on committees, work groups, and multidisciplinary teams as appropriate.  Serves as consultant or liaison to nursing department staff and to other departments.
     Quality Improvement: Assists Manager in developing, evaluating, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance and improvement programs/activities. Monitors and improves quality of clinical services. Develops and maintains competency standards and measures to support high quality work.
     Goals and New Programs: Participates with Manager in preparing annual departmental goals and objectives, strategic plans, and standards.  Implements selected goals and reports on progress to Manager. Performs special projects.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Desirable Qualifications
Completion of a recognized Central Supply Technician course AND three years of technical experience involving sterilization of surgical trays, medical supplies, equipment and instruments in a hospital or institution central medical supply unit
OR
High school graduation or equivalent AND four years of experience processing complex trays of surgical instruments and equipment 
OR
Equivalent education/experience
     Physical Abilities
     Must be able to handle a fluctuating workload.
     This job requires ability to communicate clearly in English (verbal and written) with all stakeholders (providers, caregivers, patients, family members) for the effective treatment of patients.
