General Job / Performance Information

Education and Experience

  • A bachelors degree in a relevant field such as Management Information Systems, Computer Science, is preferred. 
  • Must have experience in supporting/maintaining PC hardware and software. Must possess working knowledge of desktop operating systems such as Windows and MAC OS, thin clients and networking concepts. The ability to support various components of the Microsoft Office Suite is necessary.

Environmental / Working Conditions

  • Work within the Information Systems department and with all areas of the hospital. Position involves a considerable amount of walking to visit end users and extended periods of sitting, working on hardware.

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships

  • Must be able to work well with a wide variety of clientele, often in stressful situations. Though patient contact is very limited the incumbent must be able to work in the patient care environment while maintaining the dignity of those patients. 

Job Description

  • The Help Desk Technician is expected to provide enterprise-level assistance to our customers. You will diagnose and troubleshoot software, hardware problems and help our customers install applications and programs.
  • The Help Desk Technician responsibilities also include investigating, resolving and escalating network issues, configuring operating systems and using remote desktop connections to provide immediate 1st level support. You will use applications to give clients quick answers to simple IT issues. For more complex problems that require nuanced instruction, you will contact clients via phone and/or provide clear, written knowledge base articles and technical manuals.

Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations

  • HDI, A+, Network +, ITIL, MCP or other Microsoft certifications are a plus.

  • Ability to Lift PC’s and Peripherals

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to provide telephone or email support to end-users for technical questions or issues.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and upgrade PC hardware, mobile devices and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair desktop operating systems such as Windows and MAC OS.
  • Install, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer and Citrix.
  • Installation and troubleshooting of Windows based hospital software.
  • Ability to configure, troubleshoot and resolved enterprise printer related issues.
  • Assist with maintaining records and technical documentation for essential hardware and software equipment.
  • Must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain professional certifications as required.
