Head of Wholesale Analytics

Global Risk Review (GRR) provides independent, objective, reliable, valued, and timely assurance to the Board of Directors of Citigroup, the Risk Management Committees, the Citibank Chief Risk Officer, senior management, and regulators over the effectiveness of credit, capital and collateral risk management and the ability of the Business and Independent Risk Management to identify, monitor and mitigate current and emerging risks. Within GRR, the Fundamental Credit Risk (FCR) function provides an independent review and challenge of credit risk management.

The Head of FCR Wholesale Analytics reports to the Head of GRR Analytics and supports the execution & delivery on the above mandate and is responsible for developing a structured framework & strategy to support and complement Wholesale Credit Review activities through analytical insights into various stages of credit risk lifecycle. The primary objective of this framework and execution strategy is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of various credit review processes using analytics.

Developmental opportunities include experience in a high visibility, dynamic function, exposure to both Consumer and Wholesale businesses, enhanced business contacts, interaction with senior leadership & leadership responsibilities.

**Key responsibilities:**

+ Set up an overall framework and set of execution strategies to support and/or complement review activities and enhance remote review capabilities

+ Develop customized analytics for Risk Differentiated Reviews (RDR), including targeted retrievals, which help Region Heads/Lead Reviewers in determining key focus areas for the detailed review plan and in detecting possible anomalies around adherence to approved businesses credit origination policies and/or portfolio management programs

+ Develop standard analytics to support FCR Wholesale Business Monitoring (BM) activities of Review Entities, including establishing a set of standard risk indicators to help Lead Reviewers execute BM coverage of relevant Credit Risk Families

+ Build and maintain a library of standard analytics/reports available to Lead Reviewer for the assessment of portfolio quality and identification and evaluation of emerging risks

+ Work with Region Heads and Lead Reviewers to ensure an effective and controlled process is in place to select samples of transactions when required for Review execution

+ Participate in analytical projects and/or RDRs as required by GRR senior management.

+ Participate as required in the validation of Corrective Action Plans, including the development of ad hoc analysis to verify sustainable resolution of issues

+ Collaborate and partner with other analytical units across the Global Wholesale Risk Management community to stay abreast of latest developments around credit and financial data across the firm

+ Proactive communication to GRR/FCR Senior Management of any concerns and/or emerging risks in respect of Review Entities

+ Oversee recruitment, talent development, and building of an effective Wholesale analytics team

+ Support VOE initiatives for Fundamental Credit Risk

+ Travel Required (up to 15%)


+ 15+ years of experience in financial services (wholesale credit, collateral risk, concentration risk, etc.) and related analytics experience preferably with exposure to different lending products and regions

+ Recognized Subject Matter Expert in Risk Analytics and Risk Management processes for one or more products and lending areas.

+ Experience with industry standard data visualization tools Tableau, Arcadia, Datameer, etc. is highly desirable.

+ Extensive exposure to various data repository structures, data extraction methods and various analytical/statistical tools (SAS, SQL, Python, etc.) is desirable

+ Experience with and previous exposure to internal or external control functions and regulators (including the US) is desirable.


+ Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes and trends and anticipate horizon issues

+ Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate and manage large review teams

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority

+ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and exert influence without direct authority

+ Proficient in use of statistical tools and methodology in understanding / analyzing portfolio credit risk and for sample selection

+ Comfortable in navigating complex, highly matrixed organizations, as well as acting as an agent for positive change with agility and flexibility

+ Knowledge of Citi's organization and systems preferred.


+ Advanced Degree (Masters) in Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Finance, Econometrics, Operations Research, or other quantitative disciplines

+ Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in above disciplines with 20+ years of experience will be considered (in lieu of Masters with 15+ years of experience)
