Job summary
We are looking for a talented and experienced Principal Program Manager to join Amazon€™s Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion organization. In this role you will have a comprehensive, top-down view across the organization. You will think strategically and execute operationally, working closely with organizational leaders playing a key role in improving the employee experience and identifying opportunities. You will establish and improve operational mechanisms, drive new, impactful projects, and scale initiatives. You will be involved and have a leadership role in key topics across DEI.

The ideal candidate has been successful in a business operations, program, or project management function for a global organization and/or has a financial or strategy management background. You€™re a self-starter that is an innovative thinker with a proven record of creating and implementing strategic planning, influencing cross-functionally, effective and efficient prioritization, and is comfortable in a dynamic environment. You excel at solving problems, thinking a few steps ahead, developing processes and improving them across multiple stakeholder groups. You€™re detail oriented, and you think outside of the box and challenge the status quo. You€™re willing to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary to meet team goals. People trust and respect you, and they like to work with you.

This position will ideally be based in Seattle, WA or Arlington, VA and other North American locations may also be considered. Regardless of location, candidates should be prepared to work Pacific time zone hours.


Key job responsibilities

  • Lead and implement mechanisms focused on business strategy and planning, cross-organizational effectiveness, and organizational health.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to create and execute mechanisms and track progress against organizational goals and priorities
  • Own regular business reviews with leadership and operational teams to audit ongoing performance against key metrics and program goals, including but not limited to: Monthly, Quarterly Business Reviews, and Operational Planning (OP) processes.
  • Lead key inspection mechanisms such as monthly business review meetings
  • Author strategic and business update narratives for Director, VP, and SVP audiences
  • Use analytical skills to understand operational metrics, articulate analysis to tell the story around the operational metrics and supporting data, and provide actionable insights to raise the bar on organizational performance and drive improvement plans as needed.
  • Effectively execute on business priorities, deep dive data, look around corners, identify areas to simplify and continuously improve.
  • Identify gaps in processes and mechanisms and drive timely resolution
  • Collaborate with Program Managers across the org to develop, execute, and fulfill programs, as well as develop new programs to meet emerging needs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years of experience in program or project management
  • 7+ years of experience delivering cross functional projects
  • 7+ years of experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior management
  • 7+ years of experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience defining and delivering complex programs with cross-organizational and/or cross-regional business impact
  • Operate with autonomy; comfortable making hard decisions and ruthlessly prioritizing.
  • Desire to deliver what is right for employees, customers, and communities globally.
  • Exhibit sound business judgment, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of taking ownership, leading data-driven analyses, and influencing results.
  • Be data-driven, innovative, and demonstrate balanced operations, strategy and planning, and execution skill
  • Experience communicating with senior management (Director/VP-level decision-makers), with excellent writing skills, including data driven narratives, and the ability to simplify complex issues.
  • Excellent cross group collaboration skills. Proven experience working cross functionally and holding people accountable for deliverables without a formal reporting structure, driving teams toward coherent approach to deliver strategy.
  • Highly organized, have multi-tasking skills and attention to detail, and able to create clarity and focus in ambiguous situations.
