Hardware Engineer   (Woonsocket, RI)

Our client in Automation (manufactured of automated chemical testing equipment), is currently hiring a Hardware Engineer to develop both analog and digital boards used for testing of chemicals. Altium is the software tool used. This position is a Direct Hire role. 

Highly motivated and experienced Hardware Engineer needed to  provide senior-level embedded hardware development and engineering support. This person will be responsible for designing innovative hardware solutions to challenging instrumentation problems.

Responsibilities:
Design and layout of embedded circuit boards using  Altium
Design/Review Schematics using Altium Designer, Populate/Test/Debug PCB's
Work closely with Firmware Engineers to review, ,modify/develop embedded C Code using MPLAB C Compiler
Build instrument prototypes
Research, design, develop, and test computer systems and components such as processors, circuit boards, memory devices, networks, and routers.
Design new computer hardware, creating schematics of computer equipment to be built
Test the computer hardware designed, analyze the test results and modify the design as needed
Update existing computer equipment so that it will work with new software
Electronic circuit design, construction and testing of prototypes.
Optimization and interface between the R&D department and production

Knowledge and Skills for a Hardware Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent field degree in Electrical Engineering
7-10  years of experience with hardware development (analog and digital; microprocessors, disc drives, motherboards, analog optical probes, pH meters, Turbidity Meters, Titration Systems, or other Chemical Test Kits or-like, Refractometers. Etc. a plus)
Strong background in Schematic capture  (Altium experience a plus), Strong background designing & layout of embedded circuit boards; Instrumentation development experience a plus
Digital, analog, and signal integrity simulation experience
Schematic capture: Altium experience a plus and designing layout of embedded circuit boards using commercial software package
Understanding of FCC, IEC, UL, CSA, and CE testing and compliance requirements
Familiar with full application development life-cycle for commercial hardware. Instrumentation development experience a plus
Test and peer review for technical accuracy, standards, compliance to the design
Analytical Instrumentation experience is a plus (Analog and digital; microprocessors, disc drives, motherboards, analog optical probes, pH meters, Turbidity Meters, Titration Systems, or other Chemical Test Kits or-like, Refractometers. Etc. a plus)
Demonstrated history of working in the industrial automation industry
Digital, analog, and signal integrity simulation experience
Strong background in Schematic capture: Altium experience a plus 
Strong background designing layout of embedded circuit boards 
Instrumentation development experience a plus
Skills with PCB Design & Altium/ designing layout of embedded circuit boards 
Working knowledge of basic electrical hardware circuits
