Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Graduate Hydraulic Structures Engineer to be based in Germantown, MD.

We are looking for an enthusiastic structural engineer to work as part of a dedicated dams engineering team in our Germantown, Maryland office. We are seeking a recent graduate structural engineer to grow our dams practice in the core area of structural engineering. This position will support a variety of dam engineering projects that involve hydraulic structures and dam design across the DC-Metro, East region, nationally, and around the world. This position requires relocation to the Washington, DC Area.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support in the preparation of structural calculation packages for the design and analysis of hydraulic structures.

  • Support in the preparation of hydraulic structure engineering assessment reports.

  • Communicate with multi-disciplinary teams on various projects related to dams and other hydraulic structures.

  • Support in the preparation of structural drawings and visual aids through coordination with the CAD team.

  • Support in the coordination of development of structural specifications and design reports for hydraulic structures projects.

  • Conduct quantity calculations prepare reports and create report figures.

  • Perform assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities, requiring the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and codes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.

  • Must be a US Citizen due to nature of work

  • Must have a valid drivers license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong desire to learn along with the professional drive.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of structural engineering design of reinforced concrete.

  • Knowledge of statics, dynamics, and materials to understand and determine structural loads.

  • Knowledge of MS Office Programs. Capable of functioning with spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software.

  • Experience in relevant structural engineering software programs such as Mathcad, STADD Pro, and Ansys.

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam (Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate) or successful completion within the first year of employment.

  • Experience in AutoCAD.
