Position Summary:  Global TAVR Product Manager

The Global TAVR Product Manager leads and executes all global product marketing for Abbott’s Portico transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) product.

Position responsibilities include new product definition, global pricing strategy, distribution, and promotion.  This position is responsible for upstream marketing, including new product definition and development; downstream marketing, including campaign and marketing deliverables development, and partnering with regional marketers for targeted geographical market development. 

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and execute strategic and tactical initiatives to maximize business impact of products/projects.

    • Participate in annual departmental budgeting processes by providing relevant data points to assist in overall decision-making.

      • Lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams in support of organizational goals.

        • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) within the mechanical valve market segment
        • Interface with internal and external customers and partners.

          • Travel up to 33% both domestically and/or internationally to support organizational goals.

            • Understand and comply with applicable EHS policies, procedures and guidelines.

              • Implement, maintain, and be compliant with the Abbott Quality System.
                • Create global demand for product in a customer-centric manner (exemplified by high satisfaction of needs.
                  • Market definition and segmentation, targeting and positioning, and all aspects of the marketing mix (product, place/distribution, price, and integrated marketing/promotion).
                    • Thoroughly understand competitive offerings and provide commercial organizations with appropriate positioning and tools to differentiate product(s) versus the competition in a profitable manner that adds value to the customer.
                      • Scientific and Promotional Tool Creation: Provide commercial organizations with core promotional and scientific literature, sales aids, and support materials.
                        • Internal Communication: Responsible for creating a clear line of communication between Global Marketing and all other functional areas.
                          • External Communication: Interface with consultants, marketing research firms, ad agencies, other vendors, and customers to effectively manage and grow business profitably, while maintaining a customer focus.
                            • Develop the Marketing Plan: Incorporate all aspects of the marketing mix.
                              • Ensure Launch and Post-Launch Success: Offer leadership to international commercial organizations and on-market teams through successful launch.
                                • This includes delivering appropriate launch materials/tools to differentiate product versus the competition and grow the business in a profitable manner.

                                  Position is responsible to manage single or multiple, smaller products/projects or functions within a specific role within a larger project; has a solid understanding of concepts and applies these concepts effectively; functions  independently under general guidance and direction; may mentor others; plans and organizes project assignments of substantial variety and complexity; initiates or maintains schedules for projects and project milestones; establishes priorities of individual or project assignments; selects methods and techniques to lead a project to completion.

                                  Minimum Qualifications

                                  Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree (such as a Master's degree or MBA) is highly desired;  Typically requires 5+ years of experience with or exposure to sales and/or marketing in medical devices to develop competence required to meet the responsibilities of the position. Candidate / incumbent should possess the following: - understanding of the technology and capabilities of the division's products; - understanding of market and customer dynamics; - understanding of sales processes; - knowledge of regulations and standards affecting medical devices/diagnostics; - ability to lead and influence without direct authority; - ability to work independently and in groups; ability to work cross-functionally; - ability to apply analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and critical-thinking skills; - ability to clearly, concisely and accurately convey communications, whether verbal, written or in presentations; - ability and aptitude to use various types of databases and other computer software; - ability to form and develop interpersonal, professional relationships; display socially and professionally appropriate behavior.
