The mission of the Global Clinical Distribution organization is to cost-effectively ensure the right product is in the right place at the right time, every time, such that no patient will go without treatment and no clinical trial will be delayed. The Global Clinical Distribution Leader will play a key role in achieving this mission.

The Global Clinical Distribution Leader will be responsible for managing the distribution for clinical trials. His/Her responsibility includes the deployment of clinical inventory throughout the distribution network from point of technical release and firmed demand to delivery of a clinical drug to depots, subsequently clinical sites and ultimately to patients. The Global Clinical Distribution Leader is the primary contact to Clinical Operations for distribution activity throughout the conduct of a clinical trial.The Global Clinical Distribution Leader interfaces with various functional groups and systems beginning from the location of manufacture through final delivery to clinical sites ensuring on-time delivery to meet patient dosing schedule.

A primary interface is the Kaiseraugst team that supports Genentech studies depot supply shipments. Other interfaces include but are not limited to Clinical Supply Planning, various Quality organizations, Global Depot Operations, CRO’s, IxRS vendors, Trade Compliance and Operations, warehousing and various distribution partners.The Global Clinical Distribution Leader’s role is to successfully manage these activities and interfaces with people, processes, and systems to ensure on-time shipping and delivery of clinical drugs.

Responsibilities include monitoring areas of key operational performance, managing depot relationships and acting as the Single Point of Contact to the depots for distribution execution, requiring non-standard work hours at times due to the global time zones. He/She may also be required to prepare, develop and analyze reports and metrics to assist management in monitoring network and departmental service levels, proactively supporting distribution strategy as and cost-effectiveness. He/She will also be expected to lead and/or participate in projects as necessary and will perform their role with a mindset of continuous improvement.

Further, the successful candidate will have demonstrated effective communication with management, peers, customers, and vendors, have an ability to prioritize and organize with minimal supervision and complete all levels of training requirements as outlined in the training program.

Responsibilities:

  • Single point of contact for all clinical trial distribution activities throughout the duration of a study
  • Provide a responsive, effective and successful high level of customer service to Clinical Operations partners.
  • Ensure clinical supply arrives on time to supportuninterrupted supply to both domestic and internationaldepots and sites
  • Actively participate and effective engagement on Protocol Execution Teams (PETs), Global Supply Execution Teams (gSETs), and ad-hoc distribution-related meetings on behalf of PTDS.
  • Manage the distribution relationship and day to day coordination with all third-party service providers and internal depots as required.
  • Lead order and Finished Good inventory issues with third-party service providers and internal groups and drive to resolution.
  • Execute and coordinate all depot supply in coordination with Clinical Demand and Supply Leader, Kaiseraugst, SSF, Trade Compliance, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to internal processes such that support supply chain agility and other key performance indicators.
  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional distribution related projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Interact with internal and external global partners to ensure timely execution and availability of drug supply.
  • Execute transaction with the highest level of accuracy in the CLARA system to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained and patients are assured uninterrupted supply.

Previous Experience:

  • 3- 5 years experience in Clinical Trial Management, Logistics, Warehouse, Order Management, or other Supply Chain discipline, preferably in the Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated team leadership is required
  • Knowledge of Clinical trial management, Supply Planning, Order Fulfillment, and Distribution
  • Experience with Google Docs / Powerpoint
  • SAP experience is a plus

Educational background:

  • B.S. Business, Life Sciences or Business (Operations Management or Supply Chain Management) preferred
