GL NPI New Process Engineer

Amazon.com
Seattle, WA 98104

DESCRIPTION

Amazon is focused on protecting the health and safety of our employees while continuing to serve people who need our services more than ever. Regular testing on a global scale across all industries would both help keep people safe and help get the economy back up and running. But, for this to work, we as a society would need vastly more testing capacity than is currently available. Unfortunately, today we live in a world of scarcity where COVID-19 testing is heavily rationed. Until we have an effective vaccine available in billions of doses, high-volume testing capacity would be of great help, but getting that done will take collective action by NGOs, companies, and governments.
For our part, Amazon has begun the work of building incremental testing capacity.

The Role:
As a Sr. Lab Process Engineer, you will be responsible for bringing new test procedures and new equipment from engineering to manufacturing. This is an independent contribution role, but you will be leading teams through the process. You will be a key member of the development team and will be the main interface between the hardware and software engineering teams with local and international operations teams within Amazon and our amazon analytical lab teams.

In this role, you will:

· Work with a team of test, manufacturing and lab engineers to introduce new tests/processes from engineering to production
· Work with the lab€™s New Product Operations teams to identify and escalate manufacturing challenges by enforcing DFM and DFT principles
· Optimize processes at the distributed labs; including identification, specification, design and qualification of fixtures, test equipment and diagnostic software
· Develop, review and execute equipment requirement plans to support new process manufacturing and test
· Work within Operations, Hardware and Software engineering departments to implement and optimize quality and efficiency from prototype/pilot line development through product ramp
· Work with the design engineering to identify and escalate manufacturing challenges by enforcing DFM, DFA and DFS principles
· Investigate and introduce new manufacturing technology and methodology to enhance product quality and production efficiency
· Drive all lab-related operational issues related to procedural challenges to the forefront during pilot line validation; ensure effective closure to enable operational success of the rate ramp process, and put testing into mass production

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor€™s degree in Engineering or similar technical field
· 5+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
· Experience working in cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
