Fraud Prevention Manager

The Fraud Prevention Manager will be responsible for identifying, monitoring, reporting and mitigating fraud risks for the global CCB business. The roles key activities will include delivering the global Fraud Management Program, improving CCBs adherence to the Fraud Risk Management Principles, completing targeted risk assessments and supporting the business as they respond to fraud cases, risks or issues. The position will report directly to CCBs Global In-Business Operational Risk and Controls (IBC) Head with a matrix report and oversight by CCBs Fraud Risk Management Officer and require close working relationships with the IBC, Commercial Lending, Risk, Remedial and ORM teams. This is a VP (C13) role located in New York, NY.


  • Delivering and enhancing CCBs Fraud Management Program and framework.
  • Improving CCBs adherence to the Fraud Risk Management Principles, whilst making pragmatic risk-based remediation decisions (i.e. understanding where accepting the risk is a better use of company resources).
  • Undertaking the annual Fraud Risk Assessment (FRA) for CCB.
  • Conducting quarterly governance meetings with the Risk and IBC teams in each region.
  • Responding to Fraud Risk Appetite breaches, or the identification of ineffective fraud controls.
  • Assisting the country/regional teams in managing fraud events and ensuring proper/timely escalation.
  • Collaborating with Global Independent Fraud Risk, CSIS, ORM and In-Business Control on the analysis of significant fraud risk events.
  • Identifying relevant emerging risks and fraud-related trends.
  • Tracking fraud-related Issues and CAPs, and helping Issue/CAP Owners to ensure timely closure
  • Helping the business prepare Fraud Impact Assessments for Product Approval Committees, such as ComPAC or NPAC.
  • Enhancing the businesss prevention/detection controls for internal fraud or employee wrongdoing, including enhancement of MCA.
  • Creating education and training materials for CCB employees and clients on common fraud trends and techniques.
  • Distributing periodic fraud awareness messages and bulletins.
  • Reporting on key fraud risks, losses and metrics.
  • Liaising with the Fraud Prevention staff in the other ICG businesses to share best practices and learnings.


  • At least three years experience of working in a fraud-related role.
  • Robust understanding of commercial banking and/or credit risk.
  • Successful experience of operating within a multi-disciplined function and juggling competing priorities.
  • Strong relationship/partnership skills, with the ability to unite individuals from different departments, functions, geographies or backgrounds.
  • Experience of establishing relationships with key stakeholders from remote locations.
  • Active listening, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to work independently and act on own initiative.
  • Proven presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex analytical ideas in a way that is understandable to a layperson.
  • Forward-compatible mindset, with the desire to leverage technology to improve controls and monitoring.
  • Intellectually curious and analytical
  • Ability to balance policy requirements with cost and client experience.
  • Client-facing experience is a plus
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Ensure that the identification, management, escalation and reporting of fraud risk is applied uniformly across CCB.
  • Maintain an integrated Fraud Management Organization within CCB.
  • Establish a framework that adheres with Citis Fraud Risk Management Policy and compliments CCBs In-Business Operational Risk Procedures.

Fraud Prevention is part of the In-Business Control (IBC) organisation, who are responsible for addressing Operational Risk and Control issues and ensuring a sound and effective control environment is maintained within CCB.
