School of Social Work has an outstanding job opportunity for Temporary Full Time Forensic Interview Project Lead.

The Adult Protective Services (APS) Forensic Interview Project Lead is an expert on developing training systems with a special emphasis on training modalities that include coaching and simulations. The project lead has awareness, knowledge and experience delivering services to special populations including vulnerable and aging adults. With that experience the project lead works closely with community partners who serve vulnerable adults. The approach includes social justice awareness and desire to improve service delivery, particularly on forensic interviewing of those populations. The project lead designs, develops, evaluates, and maintains curriculum and training materials or coaching resources for the DSHS Adult Protective Services (APS) workforce who are located throughout the state.  Curriculum will be developed to support multi-modality delivery including online, coaching, and simulations. This position is sought to meet specific contract deliverables and will work in partnership with DSHS APS to build and deliver a forensic interview training program to meet the contractual requirements. Contract terms are for one year.

The project lead is responsible for consulting with, and advising DSHS APS administrators, university faculty and staff on the education and training strengths and needs related to the successful job performance and achievements; developing parallel processes implemented statewide to support skill building education and training;  developing curriculum on a forensic interviewing for vulnerable adults as well as potential development for a variety of training topics related to adult protective services through the use of blended delivery methods; and training the developed curriculum across the state in a variety of modalities.  This requires the project lead to have specific knowledge regarding adult and aging and a broad range of knowledge in the field of social work, specifically in services to vulnerable adults. Additional requirement is the ability to impart this information effectively, including the development of a program that is an effective proponent of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Individuals in this position represent the Alliance and the University of Washington School of Social Work to professionals in the field of Adult and Aging Services.  The project lead must keep current on changes in the field and work with other professionals to ensure that the same information is being provided to all who receive training through this program. The effectiveness of the training sessions is a direct reflection on all the partners, and the University as a whole.  A successful partnership will ensure that the contract to provide this training will remain at the University of Washington.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to those listed below:

Developing curriculum to meet new and existing policy guidelines and practice standards for forensic interviewing of vulnerable adults.
Work with subject-matter-experts to develop curriculum, course content, and supporting materials. Culturally relevant deliverables to include curriculum guide, learning objectives, levels of learning, student handouts, trainer aides, practice activities, simulations, and self-paced modules.                                                                                          
Applying knowledge of issues in professional literature and research in curriculum development with an emphasis on literature and research regarding the adult and aging population.                                                        
Applying effective adult learning methodologies and techniques in developing curriculum using the backward curriculum design model.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with management, colleagues and partners         
Participate in statewide workgroups related to all levels of trainings or other related topics.  

Training and coaching DSHS APS staff on the developed curriculum and simulations related to the vulnerable adult population served by APS to include but not limited to forensic interviewing training and simulations.                      
Facilitating small and large group discussions while applying classroom management principles                      
Applying conflict resolution techniques in managing adult learners                                                                                             
Applying effective adult learning methodologies and techniques in delivering training and simulation debrief.
Other duties as assigned


Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, social science, education, public administration or related field and a minimum of 5 years of paid training experience with adult learners.

Direct knowledge and experience in the following areas:

Understanding of forensic interviewing Skills
Understanding of and/or experience with caregivers providing for vulnerable adults                                       
Knowledge of effective training and coaching methodologies and techniques                                                 
Knowledge of current professional literature and research that relate to adult protective services                    
Knowledge of curriculum development and the ability to train from prepared curriculum                                 
Knowledge of adult learning theories and ability to apply these theories in developing and delivering training curriculum
Knowledge of group processes and ability to effectively facilitate small and large group discussions                
Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques and the ability to apply these techniques to adult learners             
Ability to work cooperatively with peers, supervisors, program managers to achieve organizational goals          
Ability to write and prepare clear and effective reports and other documents                                                
Ability to work independently and utilize sound judgment in effective decision making.                                   
Ability to maintain the highest standards of personal, professional and ethical conduct, and willingness to support the goals of the Alliance.
Ability to conceive, plan and coordinate programs                                                                                    
Ability to make reasonable judgments in a complex and changing organizational environment                      
Ability to analyze sensitive issues in an objective and realistic manner and provide advice and consultation on these issues
Ability to maintain and use tracking and monitoring systems
Ability to accept organizational changes with a positive outlook                                                                    
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, colleagues and training participants
Must be able to effectively communicate with management, peers, clients, and the public as required to carry out the assigned duties of the position


Knowledge of current professional literature and research that relate to adult protective services        
Knowledge of applicable state and federal statutes related to APS                                                                         
Knowledge of current APS procedures, current issues and accepted practice standards                              
Knowledge of APS policies, program operations, services and organizational structure
