Most importantly, with everything we do, we put learning first. **What You'll Do Here:** + Develop an in-depth understanding of the various transaction types, product set-up codes and the impact those transactions and codes have on royalty calculations and on reported financial information + Review and comprehend contractual terms and conditions for royalty calculations and payments within the Cengage Author Agreements + Obtain a thorough understanding of the royalty processes and the related data + Become proficient in understanding sales and returns, and their impact on royalty calculations + Analyze and reconcile contract level sales, returns, and royalty earnings on ad-hoc basis to support Product and Legal teams (e.g. supporting contract renegotiations) + Develop standard reporting and integrities that will aid in analyzing and ensuring accuracy in our royalty processes + Responsible for financial and operational data analysis and reporting to support monthly and year end close processes + Develop relationships and collaborate with members of Finance, Product, Legal, Strategy, and other functional teams; participate in meetings regarding new contracts and terms that impact royalty calculations + Develop, maintain, and share royalty reports with Finance and Product in order to provide visibility critical for our business. + Take ownership and work independently on assigned research projects such as ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests (e.g. historical royalty payments trend and variance analysis; royalty payment reviews) + Perform other duties as needed to achieve department and company goals **Skills You Will Need Here:** + Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance or degree in Data sciences with strong acumen/experience in Finance or Accounting + Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in Data Analytics + Ability to collaborate and communicate within all levels of an organization + Must be able to succeed as an individual contributor as well as part of a team + Must be able to develop and maintain strong relationships across the business + Experience with complex data models + Strong analytical, listening and communication skills + Ability to prioritize and work independently + Demonstrate ability to be a self-starter + Ability to perform a variety of tasks while working within deadlines, showing flexibility and comfort dealing with ambiguity + Ability to handle non-routine and complex transactions + Ability to identify exceptions and develop innovative and creative solutions through hands-on data discovery and critical thinking + Ability to compile and manipulate large amounts of data + Ability to present and explain complex issues in a straight-forward and meaningful manner + Demonstrate dedication and reliability + Strong problem-solving, detail-orientation and analytical capabilities, along with the ability to identify exceptions and develop solutions + Proficient with financial reporting and accounting systems and Microsoft Office programs, including PowerBI, Excel + PowerPivot, and other Excel advanced analytic features. + Firm understanding of the structure and functionality of accounting systems, business hierarchies, and general leger accounts + Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne + Experience with Cognos BI + Experience with Hyperion FM and Essbase **Job Locations** _US-OH-Mason_ **Posted Date** _2 months ago_ _(12/4/2019 9:16 PM)_ **_Requisition ID_** _2019-7155_ **_Job Function_** _Finance_ Cengage is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
