This exceptional Financial Analyst III has financial reporting responsibility for the Global IT & Digital Finance Organization. The Global IT & Digital Finance group supports all Thermo Fisher Scientific and, as a result, this position interacts with all Business Units within the Corporation. This role supports the Digital Engineering organization. As a crucial member of the finance team, this role provides timely and accurate analysis, decision support and reporting to ensure sound financial operations.

Key responsibilities will include partnering with business leaders at Center of Excellence in Tijuana, Mexico, and finance team in Brazil to manage Tijuana site’s invoicing process, operating expenses, and expansion plan. In addition, this role will drive automation in the Digital Finance team to reduce the lead time of providing descriptive and diagnostic analytics across entire Digital Engineering. The ideal candidate will build strong business partnerships with stakeholders and provide timely and accurate analysis, decision support, and reporting to ensure sound financial operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with the Finance team in Carlsbad and Tijuana Mexico to support Digital Engineering organization.
  • Provide financial planning and analysis support to the Global IT & Digital Shared Service organization during Annual Plan and forecast periods.
  • Generate insights and recommend actions to drive informed decision-making.
  • Improve the accuracy of financial models and incorporate “what-if” scenarios capability.
  • Coordinate, complete and review of month end close process and post close reporting cycles; including, but not limited, to account reconciliations.
  • Review monthly IT spend, and identify the contributing factors driving variances to AOP and Forecast.
  • Drive businesses processes to improve performance and customer ease of use.
  • Formulate and drive process improvements, challenging the status quo
  • Multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines while delivering consistent, accurate and reliable work
  • Translate data and metrics into predictable, value-added business insights
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail; must be able to elevate perspective at the appropriate time. Must be able to ‘Zoom In or Out’, based on targeted audience and business intelligence gathering.
  • Be a strong and confident communicator: essential to have credibility within a dynamic, challenging environment and in the context of providing outstanding business partnering support.
  • Solid business acumen, as well as the ability to make logical assumptions, identify trends, incorporate external and internal information, and effectively benchmark results against appropriate baselines.
  • Having an exceptional oral and written communication skills including ability to take an independent stance when interfacing with cross functional stakeholders. Comfortable presenting information to multiple management layers, up to and including Group Executives.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in Finance or Accounting role.
  • Proficiency in the following areas: financial analysis and reporting, forecasting, internal control and technical accounting knowledge.
  • Technical ability to effectively navigate interplay between all financial systems (E1, SAP, EDW, Hyperion Planning, HFM/CMR), and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong win/win attitude with emphasis on collaboration.
  • Ability to build organizational relationships with customers, peers and operating partners.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple assignments, have good judgment, and prioritizes projects and time effectively.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with individuals and teams from different areas, drive accountability and continuous process improvement in daily activities.
