Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:   Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies maritime Switchboard/power distribution related equipment. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer’s shipyard and/or field locations. Troubleshoots and performs diagnostic test of equipment malfunctions. Coordinates with Field Engineer to install, upgrade and/or remove products as required. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide onsite training of customer support personnel. Responsible for the installation, check out, operation, maintenance and repair and modification of customer equipment and/or software.  This position is primarily onboard ship/craft under construction.  Some travel will be required, i.e. to Tulsa, OK site for training on equipment, Seatrials of ship, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Communicates both written and orally with customer representatives and management personnel.
  • Thoroughly familiar with electromechanical and electronic circuitry.
  • Extensive knowledge/use of schematics, blueprints, manuals and other specifications pertaining to the work to be performed.
  • Ensures electromechanical/electronic safe work practices.
  • Familiarity with the work operations and the safety rules and regulations that apply to shipyard work activity.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Location:   Marinette, Wisconsin. 

    QUALIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on circuit breakers and switchboards such as checking, cleaning and repairing equipment, to detect and prevent problems.
    • Set up and properly operate test equipment in accordance to prescribed methods.
    • Operate equipment to demonstrate its proper function or to analyze malfunctions using manufacturer’s manuals and specifications.
    • Repair, replace and adjust equipment or components, replacing worn parts.
    • Inspect components of equipment for accurate assembly and for defects such as loose screws, nuts connections and frayed wires. 
    • Consult with Field Engineers, supervisors, and other engineers to plan layout of equipment and to resolve problems in system operations and maintenance.
    • Perform the installation of repaired equipment in various settings, such as industrial and military establishments.
    • Ability to climb both vertical ladders and stairways and work in tight spaces.
    • To stand, kneel, extend overhead for prolong periods of time.
    • Complete all required documentation for review and submission.

      EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  

      • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
      • Minimum 4-years experience in the electrical or electronics industry; with specific marine electrical experience preferred.
      • Graduation from electrical or electronics trade school, or applicable military school.
