Field Applications Scientist - Global Distribution

The BioProduction Development (BPD) Global Distribution Field Application Scientist is responsible for supporting Molecular Devices solutions for antibody discovery and cell line development. 

As a member of the field applications Global Distribution team, this role is responsible for collaborating with sales and marketing to build and maintain strong customer and distributor relationships directed toward growing Molecular Devices€™ Biologics product platform market share, revenue and profitability year over year in the following target market segments: Pharma, BioPharma, Biotechnology, CRO, Environmental  Science, and Academic Research.


  • Increase win rate to over 70% by proving to customers the superior performance of the Molecular Devices Products in demonstration, seminars, or workshops
  • Increase distributor win rate to over 70% by training and supporting sales channel partners to ensure proficiency and competency with the Molecular Devices Products
  • Work collaboratively with the increase customer satisfaction, boost market share, and increase competitive sales situation conversions.


    • A minimum of a BS degree (MS or PhD preferred) in a Biological Science field
    • Knowledge of Biologics drug development and discovery preferred.
    • Knowledge of automated solutions for life science research preferred.
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, work well under pressure with a diverse group of colleagues.
    • Must have practical and scientific knowledge of the Molecular Devices system applications including upstream and downstream instrumentation and applications
    • Must be a self-starter
    • Must have excellent group presentation skills
    • Related work experience in sales or field applications.
    • Candidate should work well in a fast-paced, energetic, high profile environment.
    • Strong business acumen preferred
    • Must be willing to travel regionally and globally up to 50% of the time.


      • Provide sales support through effective and convincing Molecular Devices Product demonstrations
      • Provide on-site product demonstrations as requested and justified by sales representatives for competitive sales support.
      • Provide technical seminars or provide technical back up in support of field sales when necessary. 
      • Work with prospective customer or customer samples to provide proof of principle or initial experimentation to demonstrate functionality with Molecular Devices products.
      • Attend trade shows as necessary.
      • Provide all application and technical support for all products to potential and existing life science research customers.
      • Answer customer and distributor technical inquiries through timely telephone and email support within 24-48 hours of receive the request.
      • Support new customers & distributors or new users of the instrumentation or reagent kits through phone/email or site. €œHand hold€ new users to the point they are able to work independently and provide training or low level support to other users at the site.
      • Ensure that customers & distributors are using the products properly and are satisfied with the specified performances.
      • Follow up with distributors to ensure proper training has been performed and the customers are able to independently work with all products.
      • Conduct training programs to educate and train distributors and customers on the entire product line. Conduct training programs at Molecular Devices for customers and internal/field representatives.
