As a Facilities TD Engineer, you will play a significant role in helping to develop, operate, maintain, and repair industrial water treatment and reclaim systems in a 24x7 manufacturing environment. Results are delivered through the application of scientific and engineering skills and tools including systematic problem solving, statistical validation and data analytics, collaboration with the facilities and laboratory technicians, engineering peers, equipment suppliers, key stakeholders, through in-depth understanding of the operating systems to determine and ensure compliance to existing standards and processes. The microbiology engineer will play a key role in sustaining and optimizing operations of suspended and attached growth biological wastewater treatment processes. The daily operations support will include coordination and planning of process and sample analysis, with onsite analytical support and the ability to work with suppliers to develop and implement analytical methods. Key biological assays include microscopic identification of molecular and cellular properties of microorganisms, determination of kinetic rates of nitrification, oxygen respiration and other bio kinetic evaluations, investigation of biological odors generated under anoxic and anaerobic conditions, and quantification of microbial abundance and diversity with DNA/RNA quantification.

Qualifications

This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly. Relevant experience can be obtained through school work, classes and project work, internships, military training, and/ or work experience. You must possess the following minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position:

Minimum Qualifications:


Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or a Master’s Degree in Chemical, Biological, Environmental Engineering, or similar Engineering degree from an accredited university.

1+ years of experience with the following:

  • Microbiology and wastewater.
  • Large-scale manufacturing/ mechanical engineering facility services support.
  • Identifying, analyzing and solving immediate issues with analytical equipment.
  • Analytical equipment including sampling, extraction, and separation methods etc.
  • Laboratory and analytical (microscopes, LCMS, and water quality analysis) and real-time monitoring instrumentation (TOC, TN, TSS, pH, etc.).
  • Working with 3rd party vendors to optimize performance.
  • Performing bioassays, measurements and conducting statistical validation.
  • Growth kinetics of biological species in waste water system etc.
  • Communicating technical concepts verbally or written to technical and senior management audiences.

Prefer Qualifications:

  • Experience with Statistical Process control.
  • Experience working in a production environment and/or with other facilities process systems.
  • Experience commissioning/sustaining Mechanical equipment such as pumps, boilers, chillers, HVAC units and compressors.
  • Experience with project planning, coordination and integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to professionally present to peers and leadership at site at cross-site meetings and actively participate in cross-site tasks as directed.
