General Description

Under direct supervision of the Director of EOF, performs duties relating to the recruitment, admission and enrollment of prospective students into the EOF Program, supporting re-enrollment of current EOF students to remain on course for on-time graduation, while assisting with academic year support service programming and retention efforts.

Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities

Assist in the recruitment and enrollment efforts of EOF students via email, phone and mailing outreach.
Provide information regarding the EOF Program and Union County College to prospective students, parents, guidance counselors and other interested parties.
Use of software to support targeted recruitment outreach efforts.
Receive required EOF application and financial eligibility materials.
Maintain EOF applicant database information.
Assist with scheduling and execution of interviews of potential EOF students.
Assist EOF Administrative Assistant with EOF applicant correspondence.
Support and represent EOF at recruitment events both off campus (High School Visits, College Fairs and Instant Decision Days) and on campus (New Student Orientation, Guidance Counselor Information Sessions, Family Information Sessions, etc.)
Support EOF events (Summer Program Orientations, Peak Registration, EOF Workshops, Student Events, Community Service, etc.).
Become knowledgeable in Union County College Online Services (i.e., Owls Nest, Web Services, Canvas, etc. ) to support prospective and current students.
Support and monitor EOF Student Success Centers.
Provide tutoring support ( if applicable ) in both one-on-one and group settings.
Support and/or monitor EOF Success Centers in Cranford and/or Elizabeth.
Assist with assessment of various EOF areas including EOF Summer Program, EOF Tutoring Usage, Retention and Graduation.
Assist the Tutorial Coordinator in administering workshops, scheduling, academic and tutorial assessments and related academic activities.
Attend orientation and training sessions.
Data entry on PC.
Support office hours coverage.
Perform all related tasks as assigned in support of EOF and/or Union County College.

Education Requirements

Associates Degree required


Former EOF student
Union County College graduate
Experience working with EOF students or other students from a diverse population
GPA of 3.0 in subjects of tutoring (if applicable); Math and English preferred

Competencies and Skills Required

Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
Interact with a diverse student, staff and faculty population.
Must be familiar with EOF eligibility criteria as established by local program and/or the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education.
Ability to work with computer-aided instruction programs and internet search engines.
Ability to break down complicated ideas in subjects of tutoring to simpler ideas and convey those ideas to students.
Ability to be sufficiently assertive as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This positions duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk
Some travel required.

Terms of Employment

Part-Time hourly; not to exceed 25 hours per week. Must be able to work at any Union County College Campus. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends and extended hours will be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
