Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Environmental Planner for employment in the Oakland, CA office. The Environmental Planner will help prepare technical sections and coordinate environmental documents to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act and/or the National Environmental Policy Act (CEQA/NEPA), as well as other documents, for a wide variety of projects, including water, energy, infrastructure, and natural resources, as well as urban, infill, and mixed-use development projects in northern California.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Help prepare technical sections of environmental documents to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act and/or the National Environmental Policy Act

  • (CEQA/NEPA) as well as other documents

  • Coordinate environmental compliance documents and processes, in addition to authoring sections of environmental documents

  • Research and solve technical problems in accordance with accepted practice/methodology and report on results

  • Assist with the design and implementation of public engagement and outreach strategies to support a variety of urban and environmental planning projects

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations (e.g., CEQA, NEPA, Clean Water Act, federal and state Endangered Species Acts).
