AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Chemist for employment in the Morrisville, NC office. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support data validation efforts under the direction of a Senior Chemist

  • Development of project Work Plans and Quality Assurance Project Plans

  • Review and validate chemical data packages in accordance with EPA guidance

  • Upload data to specific client databases (ERIS, ERPIMS, etc.)

  • Manage data in relational database systems like Earthsoft EQuIS or Microsoft Access

  • Manipulate electronic data deliverables to create report-ready tables and visualizations

  • Development of new data management workflows and automated tools

  • Serve as day-to-day coordinator between field personnel and analytical laboratories

  • Work with Project Managers of various projects to develop and solicit bids from analytical laboratories in support of project and proposal efforts.

  • Work effectively in both collaborative and individual efforts towards the execution of varied project tasks.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid US Drivers license

  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related discipline

  • Experience using relational databases such as Microsoft Access (college course[s] or demonstrated work experience)

  • Must have, or be capable of being approved for, a security clearance in order to manage electronic data in government databases such as ERPIMS or ERIS

  • Knowledge of environmental chemistry principles, environmental fate and transport

  • Relevant technical writing experience

  • Ability to organize data in an efficient and clear manner

  • Basic knowledge of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) and the unique challenge this group of compounds poses to the environment.

  • Understanding of the Department of Defense Quality Systems Manual and the ability to interpret analytical data packages for compliance with analytical protocols and quality assurance project plans is desired

  • 1+ years of experience performing environmental analyses at an analytical testing laboratory in organic and/or inorganic sections/departments

  • Experience working with and knowledge of standard EPA analytical methods detailed in SW846 and other EPA methods and an understanding of data validation
