Local Services is the bridge that seamlessly connects consumers with business owners to schedule services via Yelp. We provide the systems for consumers to search, find, and correctly match with business owners as well as the tools, analytics, and architecture for business owners to receive leads and grow their business online. Were a fast-paced, entrepreneurial group, focused on unearthing the ideal ways to facilitate meaningful service connections.

As an Engineering Manager on the Local Services team, youll help us identify ways to build a more compelling experience for our constituencies that best serves their various needs. Youll manage a team of multi-disciplinary engineers and work with both our design and product management organizations to define and pursue the most important opportunities. Youll help us craft technical strategy and grow our engineering team in the pursuit of being the foremost place to connect consumers with the best local service providers.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead complex technical projects and a team of software engineers.
  • Provide frequent and constructive feedback.
  • Coach and mentor engineers of all experience levels, from new college graduates to senior engineers.
  • Participate in the hiring process.
  • Foster and grow a fun, diverse and inclusive culture that reflects Yelps values.

We Are Looking For:

  • Previous experience as a manager with excellent people management skills and the ability to hire and grow a talented team of engineers.
  • Agile development experience.A confident communicator.
  • Command of your favorite modern programming language: Python, Ruby, Java, Objective-C, C++, etc.
  • Comfortable working in a Unix environment.
  • A passion for supporting service providers through engineering solutions to help them reach their full business potential!
