**Preferred Qualifications:**

The applicant would be responsible for providing engineering support to a variety of shipbuilding projects, including precision measurement, structural engineering and welding, pipe engineering, machine shop operations, manufacturing processes, data analysis, and surveying practices. The applicant should possess solid mathematics and CAD skills, particularly with respect to three-dimensional data representation and transformations, and have strong spatial visualization skills. A background/training in or experience with surveying is considered a plus. Position is responsible for developing methods and processes to guide measurement technicians through dimensional surveys, analyzing survey data for determining out-of-tolerance conditions, as well as creating automation enhancements.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is required. Some programming/scripting experience, particularly in VBScript or VBA, is preferred. This position may require the ability to physically access a wide variety of work sites, including those aboard ships under various stages of construction or overhaul, including the use of vertical and inclined ladders, and may involve limited kneeling, stooping, standing, etc.

The successful candidate will collect and analyze technical data for design studies, prepare layouts and specifications, review design proposals and drawings, develop technical specifications, and analyze and resolve design and production issues in the areas of structures, machinery, piping, ventilation, welding, and propulsion systems and components. Technical writing and customer relations skills are essential. Must be eligible to obtain a DoD security clearance.
