Overview: The successful candidate will have customer service, creativity, strategic thinking, initiative, organization, excellent communication skills, the ability to create partnerships and the desire to connect students with the employment community. This job is that of bridge builder: employers + faculty + alumni + departments + clubs + advancement = successful students.

Must be able to:
  • interact with all audiences from CEO to first year student, faculty to recruiters and everyone in-between
  • develop innovative initiatives to increase both employer and student engagement that address both student and employer needs
  • demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and student development.

    Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Career Development and Education, oversee employer participation in the Opportunity Academy program. Responsibilities will include:

    External and Internal Relations:
  • Serve as a consultant to employers who are recruiting UW Tacoma students and alumni; build and maintain employer relationships with existing partners. Recommend recruitment strategies and market Career Development based on employer needs. During consultation, provide connections to campus partners and develop creative recruiting solutions to meet employer and student needs.
  • Build partnerships with internal campus stakeholders, departments, and faculty. Partner with academic programs, Alumni Relations and Advancement to serve the campus community engagement initiatives. Provide strategic thinking and collaboration to integrate employers into Career Development events and partnered activities.
  • Conduct a needs analysis to identify gaps in access to internships by industry and major. Develop an outreach plan to create more internship opportunities in areas of deficiency.
  • Responsible for job posting platform used for posting jobs and internships, as well as managing career events. Manage all employer job postings on campus via the job posting platform and social media sites.
  • Independently identify and establish partnerships with employers to develop job and internship opportunities for students and alumni including internships and career positions.
  • Maintain and expand the Premier Partner Program.
  • Oversee the Institution2Institution Internship Program. Maintain relationships with current employers who are participating as well as recruit new employers into the program. Advertise and recruit student candidates for the I2I internships. Screen candidates for eligibility and complete hiring process for students selected.
  • Collaborate with colleagues at UW Seattle and Bothell campuses as appropriate on employer events and employer relationships.

    Career Services Operations and Management:
  • Manage and coordinate employer-student events with a major emphasis on career fairs, networking nights, information sessions, and workshops. Oversee marketing and promotion for these events inclusive of print, electronic, and soial media.
  • Manage the scheduling of recruiters, students, interview schedules for on-campus recruiter events. Coordinate and facilitate student preparation for these activites with the Career Specialist.
  • Keep abreast of market trends and stakeholder interests; Collect, evaluate, assess and report data related to program and program goals. Recommend and implement program modifications based on results.
  • Collaborate with the Student Transitions & Success Program Support Supervisor and Student Affairs Program Operations Administrator in event purshasing and credit card reconciliation in alignment UW Tacoma purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Oversee employer surveys for feedback analysis. Summarize employer data and statistics to be used in Student Transition Programs annual reports and external reports.
  • Provide support at all Career Development and Student Transitions & Success sponsored events.

    Student Engagement:
  • Partner with student clubs and organizations for different industry related events such as: workshops, networking mixers, and career fairs. Serve as a liaison between employers, Career Development and the UW Tacoma student body.
  • Provide support and expectations to Career Prep Consultants about events, employers, and professional interactions.

    Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Required qualifications:
    A bachelor's degree in Business/Human Resources, Communication or related field and two years of work experience in a corporate/industry or university career services environment.

  • Travel is necessary with occasional overnight stays.

    Preferred qualifications:
  • A master's degree.
  • Experience in marketing, negotiation, and strategic planning.
  • Familiarity/comfort with computers, databasing, and web page design and editing.
  • Experience with college recruiting, from a higher education or a business perspective.

    Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record, must also be able to obtain a state vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment and must qualify to operate a vehicle within the university's guidelines.
