EMPLOYEE RELATIONS GLOBAL PROGRAM MANAGER

THE ROLE:

 

This position serves as the employee relations global program manager, as well as the US employee relations expert.  The role is responsible for leading global ER programs and projects, such as case trends, policy governance and manager training.  The position is also responsible for managing complex employee relations inquiries and issues; conducting investigations into employee complaints; proactively coaching and guiding managers and HR on performance processes and tools; and providing HR leadership team insights into employee relations trends. 

 

THE PERSON:

 

The Employee Relations Global Program Manager is a self-starter who can work under minimal supervision in a fast-paced, matrixed global organization.  They are the expert in HR policies,  processes, and have a solid foundation in basic employment legislation and are comfortable working with in house counsel as needed.  They can effectively lead projects and collaborate globally. The position requires excellent communication, project management, problem-solving skills, and the ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization to understand and resolve issues.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform quarterly or ad hoc compilation, analysis, and review of case data to share significant issues, trends and concerns with HR leaders building out action plans to address issues.
  • Lead and document thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints following established processes and documentation guidelines.
  • Provide training or coaching for managers and HR on topics such as managing performance, preventing harassment, handling difficult dialogues or other topics based on need.   
  • Provide consistent guidance and direction to managers and HR in the handling of complex employee matters, including coaching managers on employee conversations.
  • Lead global ER projects and initiatives such as manager training, global policy governance, and case trend analyses.
  • Document inquiries, actions and outcomes into case management tools to ensure appropriate records are retained and actions can be taken.
  • Keep abreast of local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.
    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • A Bachelors degree in Human Resources management or a related field.
  • 10+ years hands-on experience as an Employee Relations Specialist/HR Generalist.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct formal investigations and providing appropriate recommendations to executives and leaders.
  • Proven ability to research information, analyze data, and use sound judgment to draw valid conclusions, prepare recommendations and build plans of action.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR, employment laws and regulations for US and Canada. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with in-house counsel as needed.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage and drive global programs or projects. 
  • Demonstrated formal and informal leadership experience. 
  • Self-confident with excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to establish credibility, build rapport and create trust in a virtual setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive, emotional and confidential situations in a composed, discrete and professional manner.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and use time effectively and efficiently, while shifting frequently between multiple priorities.
    ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • HR or equivalent education preferred at bachelors level.
