Description:

  • Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, or optical areas. This must include use of manual and automated test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal test generators, power supplies, frequency counters, etc.). Basic knowledge of computerized test equipment, with hands on experience is desirable. Works from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Duties consist mainly of supervised assignments in direct support of an engineer, usually in a specific field requiring the application of technical fundamentals. Duties and Responsibilities Sets up test equipment and conducts tests of production and prototype assemblies and units following methods, procedures, standards, and sequences. Uses hand and small power tools and various measuring and testing devices in performing job duties. Perform soldering and de-soldering of electronic components to assist in failure analysis.
  • Assist technicians, engineering aides and engineers as directed. Record test data, maintain test data file system, shop routing documentation and accept/reject data for production & some engineering units. Assist in determining if failure is attributed to product or test equipment. Constructs, troubleshoots, tests, and maintains electromechanical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, hydro mechanical, and pressure-type measuring and indicating instruments, devices, or systems as needed. Corrects malfunctions by making adjustments or replacing parts or components as directed.
  • Calibrates electronic test measuring equipment and signal generating equipment to conform to set standards. Tests, calibrates, adjusts, and maintains. Sets up calibration sequences, methods and procedures according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and requirements. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis. Searches, investigates and selects technical reference data pertinent to the project assigned, utilizing engineering tests, papers, journals, periodicals and other informational sources.
  • Maintains engineering specifications and other related technical records. Compiles and classifies data to existing product records, establishes new product files, changes specification records to suit engineering revisions. Provides information as requested by the engineering department. Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that is cooperative and supportive of customers, co-workers and managers.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Sets up test apparatus and conducts tests of production assemblies and units following methods, procedures, standards, and sequences.
    • Uses hand and small power tools and various measuring and testing devices in performing job duties.
    • Assist technicians, engineering aides and engineers as directed.
    • Record test data, maintain test data file system, shop routing documentation and accept/reject data for production & some engineering units.  Assist in determining if failure is attributed to product or test equipment.
    • Constructs, troubleshoots, tests, and maintains electromechanical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, hydro mechanical, and pressure-type measuring and indicating instruments, devices, or systems as needed.
    • Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications and replacements as needed
    • Prepares prescribed compounds and solutions.
    • Corrects malfunctions by making adjustments or replacing parts or components as directed.
    • Calibrates electronic test measuring equipment and signal generating equipment to conform to set standards. Tests, calibrates, adjusts, and maintains. Sets up calibration sequences, methods and procedures according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and requirements
    • Assembles and performs limited internal analytical testing of small to medium units of average complexity, component assemblies, and small systems working under close direction and supervision; or assembles complete major systems and complex and unique electromechanical units, working under close direction and supervision
    • Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.  May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
    • Searches, investigates and selects technical reference data pertinent to the project assigned, utilizing engineering tests, papers, journals, periodicals and other informational sources.
    • Makes calculations employing prescribed mathematical formulas and assists data processing systems analyst to organize technical data and formulas for processing.
    • Maintains engineering specifications and other related technical records. Compiles and classifies data to existing information as requested by the engineering department.

      Basic Qualificaonsproduct records, establishes new product files, changes specification records to suit engineering revisions. Provides :

      3-6 years of ptirevious relevant experience required.  Associates degree in related discipline preferred or equivalent experience.  Must be security clearance eligible.
