This position, located at the NSC€™s New Mexico location in Albuquerque, New Mexico, will be responsible for designing Automated Test Equipment for our Transportation Domain. This includes technical leadership, collaboration with the Design Agency(s), interfacing within the NSC Test Engineering and Program Management organizations, and the Federal Customer.

This role will include developing a roadmap and architecture for the future, develop and execute research and development programs, driving commonality and efficiency across multiple platforms. Mentor, train, and coordinate multiple teams developing Automated Test Equipment focused around secure communications.

Summary of Duties:

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and manages the activities of a technical work unit or a team consisting of engineers, scientists, and other qualified individuals
  • Balances the potentially competing needs of multiple customers
  • Champions initiatives to resolve critical processes and technological-related issues in the materials area.
  • Technology vision, strategy and Business management oversight; innovations and technological advances that improve quality, reduce flow-time and improve productivity.
  • Cultivate career development of staff members through mentoring, training, and appropriate job assignments; maintain technical competence and leadership.
  • Utilize strong customer interface skills and responsiveness to meet customer needs
  • Use team and negotiation skills to achieve performance goals and business improvements.
  • Effective communication with all levels of FM&T management and staff, design partners, and customers.
  • Guidance to ensure individual project accomplishments and overall work unit efficiency is achieved relative to committed objectives.
  • Develop and implement staffing plans, budget proposals, and equipment requirements consistent with anticipated workloads.
  • Drives technology development, manufacturing improvements and resource sharing for the overall benefits of FM&T.
  • Participates in activities to develop technical or administrative solutions to customer expectations.
  • Understands risks with test engineering technology maturation at FM&T and works to mitigate those risks.
  • Provide technical guidance to multiple teams designing Automated Test Equipment.
  • Execute product and process certification for release of Automated Test Equipment to a manufacturing environment.
  • Present to leadership and external customers.
  • Continually improve technology and process.
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers and partners.
  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and encourages staff to act proactively with regard to themselves, the safety of the manufacturing organization, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to stop work when an unsafe condition or action is identified.

      You Must Have:

      • US citizenship needed to obtain and maintain required US Dept of Energy \"Q\" level security clearance.
      • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics from an ABET accredited program/institution. 
      • Seven (7) or more years of experience in Electrical Engineering role.
