AECOM has an opening for a Lead Electrical Engineer to support our growing Energy Business Line. This position has the possibility of being located at a variety of Energy offices in multiple locations across the United States.

Our team provides a wide range of electrical engineering services across the transmission (substations, OH/UG transmission systems, generator interconnections, interconnection strategy), power distribution (OH/UG power systems, substations, EV charging networks, microgrid design, etc.), and renewable energy sectors (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Wind). We are looking for a strong leader with a power engineering background to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base. Qualified candidates will have a strong background in electrical power engineering coupled with project management and leadership experience.
The successful candidate is expected to be a detail orientated yet efficient, experienced engineer who can make decisions independently. Along with your technical excellence, you will also be expected to provide leadership for the other electrical engineers in our Power group. The focus of the experience has to be in the power industry associated with electrical engineering and design of HV transmission systems, HV and MV substations, and MV distribution systems. Experience with California utilities a plus.

Responsibilities:
Manage a group of Electrical and Protection and Control Engineers
Lead and manage T&D projects
Lead client meetings and act as primary point of contact for electrical activities
Responsible for approval of electrical engineering design work on assigned projects
Working with Senior Management and Project Managers on developing design scope, schedules, budgets for electrical engineering work activities
Keeping senior management up to date on group progress, issues, and opportunities
Performing Power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash analysis)
Developing protective relay settings and calculations
Developing control system layouts
One line and three-line diagrams
Protective relay and metering one line / three-line diagrams
AC/DC schematics
Panel Layouts
Equipment layouts and sectional views
Connection Diagrams
Bill of Materials
Cable Schedules
DC power distribution design
Complying with hazardous area classification codes and standards
Developing construction and equipment specifications
Supporting projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning
Grounding Analysis and Design
Managing and reviewing engineering work performed by peers
Attending client meetings
Level specific responsibilities:
Local expert on providing technical leadership in a specialty area, often for a district.
Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs and applications.
Interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates assignments.
Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.
Applies advanced or state-of-the-art knowledge and experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually results from progressive experience.
Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS (Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering preferred) plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Willingness to travel occasionally
Preferred Qualifications
Management Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish.
AutoCAD/Microstation Design-Drafting Experience.
Plant Startup and Commissioning Field Experience
Power systems analysis software experience (SKM, EasyPower, Etap).
12+ Years experience Power Industry experience as an Electrical Engineer associated with the design of HV transmission systems, HV and MV Substations, and MV distribution systems.
Management/supervisory experience
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Colorado and ability to obtain in California.
Strong familiarity with industry codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, etc).
Strong written and verbal skills with an ability to lead engineering meetings.
Ability to take the lead and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
