This position is responsible for ensuring the
proper deployment, acceleration and sustainability of Design for Reliability
and Manufacturability (DRM) within the Medtronic Enabling Technologies (ET)
Product Development organization. The position enables the ET DRM strategy and
tactics to achieve desired business results related to product
quality/reliability, performance, cost and timing. The principal tactics
employed by the incumbent include mentoring Product Development personnel in
the application of DRM methodology, contributing personal expertise on projects
to meet objectives and milestones, create and deliver training in DRM methods,
and improving product development processes.

access, improve efficiency of procedures and deliver successful patient
outcomes.


**SPINE** shapes spine
surgery for the better; delivering procedural solutions and therapeutic
biologics and partnering with other healthcare stakeholders to accelerate
innovations that can improve surgical efficiencies and help create better
outcomes for more patients.


**BRAIN THERAPIES** offers
an integrated portfolio of devices

and therapies for the treatment of neurological disorders and diseases, as well
as surgical technologies designed to improve the precision and workflow of
neuro procedures.


**PAIN THERAPIES** offers
solutions from early interventional procedures to implantable surgical
technologies that treat chronic pain as well as pain from spinal fractures,
cancer and severe spasticity.


**SPECIALTY THERAPIES** offers
a broad portfolio that addresses urologic and gastrointestinal disorders,
conditions of the ear, nose and throat, as well as electrosurgical products for
soft tissue dissection and hemostatic sealing of soft tissue and bone.


**TRANSFORMATIONALSOLUTIONS** is dedicated to developing technology that improves outcomes
fordoctors and their patients.Our electrosurgicalproductsare
designed to assistsurgeons during a variety of procedures, including
orthopedic, spinal, surgical oncology, plastic/reconstructive, and ENT
applications.


**A Day in the**


+ Assessesproject issues and integrates organizational change to Product DevelopmentProcesses to meet reliability, quality, performance and productivity goals andobjectives.

+ Providesongoing technical support and coaching team members in application of DRM/DFSSmethods in Product Development Process activities from initiation throughrelease, partnering with Research and Development, Project Management, Quality,Operations, etc. teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products.

+ Overseesand provides coaching on choosing applicable project activities needed foreffective Product Development based on project complexity, serving as liaisonbetween Project Management, Research and Development, Quality, Operations, etc.

+ Reviewsand reports status of assigned project schedules and budgets

+ Developsmechanisms and metrics for monitoring Product Development project progress, andassists Product Development teams and Leadership with choosing and applicationof appropriate methods to resolve identified issues

+ Facilitatethe development and delivery of training in the theory and real worldapplication of DRM / DFSS Practices and Tools to Product Development teammembers to new and existing product designs

+ Develops and manages projectactivities and schedules for assigned projects and provide status reports.

+ All activities must be performed incompliance with the Quality System.

+ Performs duties in compliance withenvironmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmentalregulations.

+ All other duties as assigned.

+ Travel requirement: **20-30%**


**Must Have: MinimumRequirements**


+ Bachelors degree required in an Engineering discipline

+ Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanceddegree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

**Nice to Have**


+ Design for Six Sigma Master BlackBelt Certification or other Six Sigma discipline Master Black Beltcertifications such as LEAN with direct DFSS experience or ability to acquireMaster Black Belt Certification within 12 months of hire will be considered

+ Preferred B.S. in Mechanical,Electrical, Biomedical, System, or Materials Science Engineering

+ Software development experience usingAGILE approaches in the medical industry or other regulated industry

+ 10+ years of increasingresponsibility in a variety of product development environments focusedprimarily on complex systems.

+ Medical device product developmentexperience and a strong understanding of FDA and IEC standards.

+ INCOSE Certified Systems Engineer orequivalent certification.

+ ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer(CRE), or equivalent certification.

+ Leadership experience in managementin a Product Development organization
