Director, US and International Taxation

Greenberg Traurig, a global law firm, currently has an excellent opportunity for a Director of US and International Taxation to join our Finance team in Doral, FL.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Finance Co-CFO, the Director of US and International Tax will assist with development and implementation of global tax strategy and planning, provide advice and counsel on tax related matters, consult management on tax related effects of international expansion activities and the implications of tax reform.  This position will also manage and direct the tax accounting and compliance processes, transfer pricing compliance and planning, manage tax reporting systems, ensure adherence to applicable international, federal, state and local tax regulations and ensure the accurate and timely submission of international and federal tax returns maintenance of tax records.  The Tax Director works collaboratively with the management team across U.S. and global locations, as well as third party service providers.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of tax strategy, optimizing tax planning while ensuring compliance with all relevant local and international tax laws and regulations
  • Advise on tax matters and the potential impact of laws and regulations to the organization’s operational activities
  • Manage foreign and U.S. international tax reporting and compliance, coordinate audits, handle notices and inquiries from various tax authorities
  • Ensure the accurate and timely filing of federal, international and state tax returns, extensions and payments, including income tax, VAT, Sales and Use tax, Excise, Gross receipts, property, etc.
  • Build a team to support tax functions including defining roles and qualifications, evaluating candidates, hiring and mentoring resources. Organize staff, define responsibilities and supervise activities
  • Provide guidance, oversight and manage certain aspects of our compliance with relevant BEPS initiatives, including Country by Country Reporting
  • Develop and maintain appropriate transfer pricing documentation
  • Ensure appropriate intercompany agreements are in place
  • Confer with tax counsel and outside advisors as required.
  • Develop and maintain tax calendar
  • Develop systems and controls to ensure adequate supporting documentation maintained for tax audits and investigations
  • Develop and maintain appropriate key performance indicators for global tax function
  • Assist Fixed Asset group with maintaining/reviewing the fixed assets tax cost, income tax depreciation and property tax valuation.
  • Provide Treasury Department with estimated cash payments for all taxes.
  • Assist Payroll Tax Manager with employment tax issues.

      Qualifications & Prior Experience:
      • Bachelors in Accounting required; Master’s in Tax preferred.
      • At least 6 years of international corporate taxation experience.
      • Big Four Firm tax experience preferred.
      • Strong tax compliance and tax accounting background including knowledge of ASC 740
      • Strong technical knowledge of U.S./Foreign tax laws and transfer pricing /BEPS concepts
      • Knowledge and understanding of cash based tax accounting in a multinational environment
      • Extensive experience in assessing the tax impact of company business, operations and transactions in multiple, including international jurisdictions.
      • Flexible mindset and willingness to embrace change
      • Self-starter that takes the lead and can execute
      • Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities
      • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills to interact with all levels of an organization
      • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
      • Must be hands-on, detail oriented and able to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
