What You'll Do

As a Director, Systems Engineering, you will be responsible for setting the technical vision and strategy for the Web Area, identifying expertise to grow the team, and facilitating key partnerships between the customer and internal organizations. This is an ideal position for someone who has a consistent record of building and scaling high-performance sales engineering teams. Who You'll Work With

In this role, you will be a Systems Engineering leader in the Web and Gaming Area in the Service Provider organization. Accounts include Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Apple, Facebook, Salesforce and Uber, 


Who You Are

You are experienced in the following areas:


Systems Engineer Leadership

  • Technology leadership: technical vision and strategy for customer CTO priorities and industry direction.
  • Team leadership: Define and drive specific cultures to attract and retain the best system engineering talent (SE's, CSA's, SEM's, SSEM's) in the industry. Coaching, mentoring, career development and career path within and outside the direct team.
  • Partnership with sales leadership (AVP, CD/SEM, CE, RM, AM/SE, etc.) and our Services sales teams.


System Engineering Management

  • Establish and execute lightweight processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness to SE team.
  • Optimize organization structure (always happening) in partnership with Sales Leadership aligned to business priorities to improve bookings in minimize operational expenses.
  • Ensure execution of all engineering programs


CTO/sales Partner to AVP

  • Ability to clearly articulate issues, challenges and gaps both technically from a business perspective and in regards to people resources.
  • CTO partner to the AVP with the ability to clearly articulate current state, needs and challenges at an executive level for CXO level customers and senior Cisco leadership.
  • Make sure AVP understands industry, company and customer technical direction and challenges.
  • Build deep trust based on relationship with goal of shared success, right hand and advisor to the AVP.


Executive Customer Relationships

  • Build, cultivate and effectively bring to bear meaningful executive customer relationships.
  • Establish CTO and VP access and relevance.
  • Partner and align success criteria with key Cisco stakeholders influencing Web business initiatives.
  • Direct engagement with business units driving product requirements, application, roadmaps and delivery of solutions for Web customers.


Technical Acumen

  • Deep knowledge of service provider technologies, specifically applicable to Web Production and Enterprise technologies.
  • Ability to apply Cisco technology product and solution portfolio to customer and industry businesses challenges and priorities.

Business Insight and Industry Knowledge (and continuous learning process)

  • Knowledge and understanding of service provider evolving business models and challenges.
  • Macro view of industry trends and strategies of Web accounts.
  • Ability to align Cisco strategy to service provider businesses challenges and priorities.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent. MBA or equivalent highly desirable.
  • 10+ years related experience.
  • 8+ years management experience.
  • Cisco experience highly desired.
  • In-depth knowledge in the relevant technology areas including: Cloud; Data Center; Open Source Software & Applications; IP Core/Edge Routing/Switching; Optical; Software Defined Networking, Collaboration and Security.
  • Knowledge of relevant solutions sets, product line specifications, performance criteria, and applications.
  • In-depth understanding and experience in management of all aspects of sales support processes. Thorough understanding of organizational structures, management practices, staff development and retention.
