Tenet continues to evolve into a consumer-focused marketing organization with a consistent brand voice across marketing channels and access points. The role of Director, Physician Marketing will play a key role in driving physician marketing strategy, media channel planning, and local activation efforts to support all physician medical practices. The director will be focused on communicating results and leveraging best practices to continue to elevate our efforts across markets. The director will also be focused on key stakeholders in the market and integrating efforts across Tenet market access points.

Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing Operations, this leader will be customer & consumer centric, an excellent executor and strong collaborator. The Director of Physician Marketing will support all physician marketing strategies and plans by supporting implementation of processes that streamline our go to market activities for employed and affiliated physician practices to align with the overall market brand and business objectives. In addition, the director will play an integral role in driving tactics that engage all physicians with tenet access points, including our hospitals. This position will additionally build trusting and collaborative relationships with internal and external teams to ensure that strategic marketing is implemented within the framework and vision of the Tenet Strategic Marketing Group, a component of the Tenet Operating System.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy, Activation, and Performance


  • Supports VP on all processes and plans to drive an effective annual planning process supporting physician marketing
  • Develops sophisticated physician integrated marketing campaigns to launch and maintain new physician practices
  • Works closely with employed physician leadership teams at the home office and in each local market.
  • Creates compelling consumer experiences that drive marketing objectives
  • Leverages market and consumer/physician insights to make marketing strategy recommendations
  • Keen focus on performance and KPI across campaigns and media channels
  • Drives execution from a digital first mentality and drives execution across websites, social, digital
  • Ensures all marketing is on-brand, consistent in voice and tonality and optimized across all channels
  • Provides oversight and guidance on all creative briefs, content, and execution
  • Provides oversight on branding and onboarding initiatives with new physicians
  • Proactively seeks to understand physician feedback regarding marketing tactics and implements feedback to strengthen our programs
  • Provides leadership to all agencies and vendors leading physician marketing efforts
  • Oversees the physician marketing managers in the field and ensures ongoing communication
  • Serves as key liaison and point of contact for TPR leadership
  • Leads the budget process and audit in partnership with finance
  • Understands how marketing plans are impacting service line and facility growth and makes proactive recommendations on how to make improvements
  • Identifies ways to increase how we connect with our consumers throughout the patient journey across access points
  • Owns the toolkit process to provide executional guidelines across all market
  • Supports Patient Experience
  • Works closely with the communications field team to leverage earned media for in market plan activation


    Up to 25% travel - as travel is required, we will run a MVR on the final candidate.

    Education/Experience

    • Bachelor s Degree in Marketing or relevant major is required
    • Master s Degree (ideally MBA or Marketing) or equivalent experience is preferred
    • 7 years marketing experience
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across all areas and levels of the enterprise
    • Prefer experience in healthcare marketing, including understanding of rules and regulations

      Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

      • Demonstrated success and understanding in executing cross-channel marketing tactics to drive consumer engagement such as social and digital media, advertising and communications platforms, marketing automation/CRM, content creation, and website management
      • Demonstrated ability to establish a vision, drive teams to action, and synthesize facts and insights into concrete, actionable strategies and tactical plans that deliver on business objectives
      • Demonstrated experience in managing integrated marketing programs , with a focus on digital marketing efforts
      • Demonstrated experience in understanding marketing channel performance and how results are supporting business objectives. Ability to synthesize learnings/best in class practices and quickly implement learnings to strengthen in market plans. Proven ability to analyze, understand, and articulate the success of previous marketing strategies which have led to significant returns on investment and growth
      • Understanding of business strategy and ability to prioritize initiatives for most impact
      • Understanding of best practices in marketing execution primarily community and local activation
      • Comfort with ambiguity and working in a large, diffuse, highly matrixed environment
      • Ability to communicate a clear and compelling vision for the future and inspire others to work toward that vision
      • Proven ability to analyze, understand, and articulate the success of previous communications and marketing strategies which have led to significant returns on investment and growth
      • High level of knowledge about the health care industry, physician marketing, local market place dynamics and overall hospital strategy and operations; keen understanding of physician relationships and practice patterns; federal, state rules and regulations.
      • Demonstrated understanding of paid, earned and owned media integration and an ability to partner and support the communications teams.
      • A proactive servicing approach and a strong sense of urgency to respond to matters on time with a collaborative style which engenders the respect of others and can be best described as a leader, mentor, and a coach. An active listener with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
      • A facilitator and developer of others with a concerted focus on a team approach while holding her/himself accountable
      • An ability to build productive cross functional relationships at all levels of the organization as well as with external partners
      • Comfort with ambiguity and working in a large, diffuse, highly matrixed environment
