The Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity has an outstanding opportunity for a Director of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). 

The Director of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) reports directly to the Executive Director of Retention and Academic Support Programs and provides strategic guidance to the Associate Vice President on programmatic priorities, academic advising, and implementation of policies related to diversity and undergraduate academic planning within the UW. The Director provides leadership for the Educational Opportunity Program Advising Team and EOP advising and counseling programs. The Director works collaboratively and in synergy with the leaders of the TRIO Student Support Services Program (Regular and STEM) and the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), programs which are housed in the same suite and provide complementary services to TRIO and CAMP eligible students. The Director will also work closely with academic departments, administrative units, faculty, staff, and students on the development of strategies, policies and programmatic components that will enhance academic advising and diversity across the University campus.

This position requires the use of sound judgment and a thorough understanding of higher education policies related to diversity and undergraduate education.  The position requires the use of a collaborative and collegial approach with campus administrators, faculty, and staff to identify and implement policies that enhance campus diversity, undergraduate student preparation, and climate. The Director will provide sound and informed recommendations to leadership on areas of priority and need for the Educational Opportunity Program. The Director will utilize independent judgment in the execution of duties and will resourcefully manage the programs and staff under her/his/their leadership within the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity. The Director will critically important in leading efforts related to student academic advising and student development, and will work collaboratively with administrators and staff in Undergraduate Academic Affairs and Student Life to coordinate services for affiliated students.

Provide leadership to the staff of the EOP Advising and assume responsibility for hiring and supervising EOP staff. Provide guidance to staff regarding student advising and counseling concerns. (40%)
In consultation with the Executive Director for Retention & Academic Support Programs, develop strategies that will enhance the mission of the University related to academic advising and the programmatic objectives of the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity. Serve as a member of OMA&Ds Administrative Leadership Team. (35%)
Develop and maintain fiscal year advising and counseling budget, develop short and long-term staffing plans, and coordinate the implementation of technological tools to facilitate the delivery of services to students. (5%)
Act as a point of contact for OMA&D Directors in regards to information related to academic advising and student development to support programmatic objectives of the organization and collaborating departments. (5%)
Assume responsibility for collecting unit-wide assessment information for periodic reports to the Associate Vice President and the larger campus community. Provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of effective academic advising strategies. (5%)
Develop partnerships with faculty, departments, and administrative units to implement advising initiatives to enhance campus diversity among students, staff, and faculty; develop strategies with campus leaders related to student retention. (5%)
Represent the OMA&D on internal and external committees related to academic advising policy, and, when requested, attend meetings and any other functions both on and off-campus.  Represent the EOP Program among key stakeholders, including the campus advising the community. Perform special assignments requested. ( 5%)

Masters degree is required in educational leadership or related field and a minimum of 4 years experience in program management, academic services administration, fiscal management and budget oversight, and collaboration with campus entities;
excellent organizational and leadership skills;
ability to work collaboratively with faculty, senior staff and administrators in a university setting;
knowledge of higher education policy, students development theory and educational policies, strong background in undergraduate academic advising, research skills, and database management;
demonstrated commitment to diversity-related work; and ability to write and speak clearly and effectively

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

A dynamic leader with experience in strengthening organizational capacity through strategic collaboration and engagement with campus administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
Significant experience working with underrepresented students, staff, and faculty in a college environment, especially African American, Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander, and Southeast Asian communities.
Experience working on issues related to retention and academic development with low-income and first generation college students. 
The individual should possess strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under time constraints.
