Director of Product Management (Reproductive Health)

The Reproductive Health (RH) Business Unit is a newly formed organization designed to better meet customer needs and by doing so drive and accelerate GSD and CSD growth. Our team is highly mission-driven, committed to advancing solutions around the world to ultimately improve the reproductive health continuum from preconception, family planning, to assisted pregnancy, prenatal testing and new born and post-natal diagnosis. The RH team works across all genetic analysis platforms (qPCR, CE, Microarray, and NGS) to ensure the voice of the RH customer is brought into our division-level decision-making process and provides guidance and a sense of urgency as the divisions move into the high-growth RH markets. GSD/CSD within Thermo Fisher are uniquely positioned as the market leader in innovative and leading genetic analysis platforms that can be critical in the continuum of reproductive health. The RH vertical is tasked to tailor the powerful platforms to provide complete solutions designed for meeting the RH customers’ unmet needs and unleash the power of our largest collection of platforms for RH applications.

How will you make an impact?

The Director of Reproductive Health (RH) Product Management will play a vital role in the success of the Reproductive Health organization by leading the portfolio strategy, translating customer requirements to differentiated product and solution requirement and leading a team of talented Product Managers to lead the entire product development process leveraging the classical four P’s to continue to strengthen our leadership position in the target application areas.
This role will be a key member of the RH leadership team and will work closely with RH functions including Product Development, Operations, Market Development, Sales, SW and Technical Support to ensure customers long-term success and drive the overall technical and commercial milestones during the product life cycle.
This position is based in Santa Clara and reports to RH VP/GM

Key Components:

The RH Product Management Director will provide direction and focus to meet or exceed the division objectives:

Drives growth through developing a customer-centric and differentiated product portfolio

  • Develop a deep understanding of the market and customer insight. It is critical that the Product Management Director becomes the champion of the market trends, competitor assessment and customer insights and keep a close pulse on the global market opportunities and stay current of the new developments including regulatory requirements, KOL society guidelines, reimbursement and technology trends
  • Own the portfolio strategy and execution. Accountable for developing successful RH product portfolio strategies and executing life cycle management, delivering new products on time, on budget and exceeding PV2 growth target
  • Own the platform choice and approach. Based on the opportunities identified, take a platform agnostic approach and collaborate either internally with GSD/CSD and other division platform teams, or proactively establish external partnership to bridge the gap and innovate on new RH solutions to leap-frog competition for scalable long-term growth
  • Collaborate with other functions to deliver the results. Be the voice of customers for the internal functional teams and collaborate and build a strong relationship with the matrixed organizations within and outside of RH (R&D, operations, market development, sales, business development, collaborations, technical support, business development and others)
  • Exhibit strong people management, communication and leadership skills. Build Product Management bench strength and a great culture within PM and within RH. Attracts, engages, develops and retains top talents. Inspires, influences, and empowers employees across the matrix (both direct and indirect teams globally) to overachieve objectives. Decisive leader with ability to drive alignment and clear message across the organization
How will you get there?
  • PhD or MBA with 10+ years’ experience in customer interfacing functions preferentially in the applied genomics field
  • Strong customer/quality orientation with demonstrated ability to effectively build and manage customer and partner relationships at the most senior level
  • Strong track record of successfully delivering products to market and driving results with a sense of urgency
  • Experience developing and achieving regulatory approval for diagnostic products
  • Ability to effectively influence customers, partners, vendors, and internal staff as required
  • Strong talent management and people development and engagement skills
  • Demonstrated success working in a global matrixed-environment.
· Demonstrates passion and enthusiasm for an organization’s vision, and motivates, leads, and empowers others to achieve organizational goals
  • Strong presence; capacity to influence and promote enthusiasm and support through verbal, written and presentation communications skills

· Willingness to travel up to 25%, both domestic and internationally, as required
