Summary:
Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the ITS Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Information Technology Services department. Responsible for the supervision and management of assigned personnel and works with the COO to plan, develop, and organize all Information Technology Services functions. The Director of IT Services serves as the organizations IT Security Officer.







Major Duties:
?Meets organizational expectations as defined by the Employee Standards of performance, hospital and departmentpolicies and procedures, and the hospitals strategic goals.
?Verbalizes a clear understanding of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction measures and activelyparticipates in improvement activities.
?Using the hospitals business plan, assists COO in preparation of the departments capital and operatingbudgets.
?Provides mature leadership by managing teams and projects within available resources.
?Manages computer systems operations throughout the hospital in a timely and efficient manner.
?Manages the security of all computer systems and ensures that system maintenance, backups andnetworking activities are being processed and monitored on a daily basis.
?Leads the information and system access security program and assigns security team members.
?Initiates and maintains hospital and information technology services departmental security policiesand procedures in coordination with the HIPAA coordinator, technical project lead, and otherassigned personnel.
?Coordinates and oversees Information Technology Services related audits and assessments.
?Understands how new technology impacts the organization and leads implementation to enhance overallproject value.
?Applies sound judgement and makes decisions based on patient safety standards, departmental standardoperating procedures, hospital policy, and good financial stewardship.
?Identifies weaknesses in current systems, evaluates, and recommends corrective measures.
?Responds in a timely manner and provides assistance in accessing applications or systems functions.
?Ensures that proper documentation is available for all software systems including user manuals for informationsystems.
?Provides leadership in the creation and testing of all hospital applications or systems.
?Ensures all applications are properly planned/implemented in a timely manner with limited disruption to theorganization.
?Monitors and controls project scope, project tasks and time requirements.
?Monitors projects by measuring progress, evaluating exposures and contingencies, and taking correctiveaction.
?Leads special task teams as identified by the COO and reports on project status.
?Communicates effectively in writing and verbally and participates in evaluating/reviewing hospital policy andprocedure.
?Mentors team on effective analytical approaches.
?Develops technology architecture for the organization.
?Assures that the organization follows security and regulatory best practices.
?Manages many multiple tasks and/or teams effectively.
?Responsible and accountable for skills, performance, and compliance in accordance with organizational anddepartmental policies and procedures.
?Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method ofintroduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissionsand communication style.
?Complies with the Slidell Memorial Hospital Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct, includingthe immediate reporting of any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct;patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns.
?Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agencyrequirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws,regulations and standards.
?Any other duties as needed to fulfill the mission, drive the vision, and abide by the values of this organization.

Possesses advanced applications and systems knowledge and intuitive ability. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. Use and knowledge of personal computers and hospital applications and systemssuch as Epic, McKesson Horizon, Pyxis, Infor and APL Responsible for all data center and network/telephony functions. Has ability to read and interpret federal regulations andis knowledgeable of HIPAA regulations and JCAHO requirements.Must have computer skills and dexterity required for applicable data entry and retrieval of patient/customer information.Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard







Education/Experience:
Preferred:
?Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Business Administration and has strongclinical or technical background and 5 years clinical/financial information applications preferred.
Required:
?Graduate of an accredited 4 year program in specific field such as Computer Science, Information Systems,and Business Administration or has 5 years equivalent experience in clinical/financial applications oradvanced technical certification.
