University Advancement People and Culture (PaC) supports staff in successfully meeting the goals of the University and University Advancement (UA) by providing high-quality and responsive human resources support to foster an exceptional work environment that encourages, nurtures and recognizes the professional development of Advancement employees. UA PaC provides employment expertise and full-cycle recruitment for all UA staff. This includes developing and implementing recruiting and retention strategies; administering and interpreting policies; building and managing employee engagement, and developing service strategies, processes and programs that are responsive to the needs of the staff to implement human resources best practices. The Director for Recruiting and Engagement is responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership with respect to the broadening scope of Talent Acquisition's overall strategies, as well as the development and execution of events that encourage and support engagement and retention efforts of UA employees. This position will oversee the Talent Acquisition and Engagement team to develop systematic and competitive approaches using a data-driven focus that sets priorities for improvements aligned to ongoing strategic imperatives. RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership & Project Management Provide leadership and supervision to the Talent Acquisition and Engagement Teams. Ensure the execution of cross-functional recruiting and engagement projects from initiation to close Provide input and guidance into UAs staffing process and actively participate in staff recruitment and retention initiatives Manage engagement risk of projects, including scope, planning and budgeting, deliverable content, and buy-in of proposed solutions from UA leadership Ensure the Talent Acquisition Team develops proactive sourcing strategies for UA, expand social networking and branding outreach, leverage tools and technology, and provide a consultative advisory service for its clients Collaborate with the Senior Director of PaC to set the vision and budget for recruitment and engagement initiatives Define and implement UAs structures, processes and technologies that will drive the overall improvement of Talent Acquisition and engagement processes, quality of hiring, time-to-fill and enhanced KPIs for internal and external talent Identify professional development opportunities to increase staff performance and impact results Build and monitor UAs social media presence effectiveness by working closely with the Talent Acquisition team to create engaging content that attracts and resonates with potential applicants Lead internal and cross-functional projects Develop strategy for expanding on existing UA intern-related programs Ensure project deliverables are scalable and aligned to UA objectives Lead efforts on market research to identify potential applicant pools in specific industries or regions Develop, analyze and report on recruitment and engagement trends and metrics to influence the future direction of efforts across UA Build and develop business cases for change as needed. Develop Talent Acquisition expertise and knowledge within the team Assess and provide performance feedback to Talent Acquisition and Engagement staff Talent Acquisition Strategy Development Develop and implement the Talent Acquisition strategy for UA, in collaboration with the Senior Director for PaC Provide strategic direction to increase brand awareness and traffic to UA employment opportunities Develop, initiate and maintain effective programs for UA retention, promotion and succession planning Develop proactive organization-wide talent practices with the business to leverage social networking and innovative connections. Introduce creative networking beyond LinkedIn Build integrated UA processes designed to attract, develop, motivate and retain employees, with the goal of creating UA as a high-performance, sustainable organization Work with Talent Management and UA senior leadership to develop overall staffing plans and skill inventory to support the business strategy Establish and embed an employment brand that resonates from all external branding, advertising and technology platforms, through the candidate experience Conduct ongoing analysis of existing systems and strategies, and work to make meaningful improvements Ensure the development of an inclusive strategy to attract and retain a diverse candidate pool Identify annual departmental KPIs for each area of direct responsibility Employee Engagement Build and sustain a competitive UA Employee Engagement Program Track projects, and proactively plan and manage event logistics Develop, implement, and maintain a sustainable rewards and recognition program that acknowledges UA employees for their ongoing contributions Develop and coordinate detailed event plans that include logistics such as catering, budgeting, space reservations, vendor management, program details, invitation and communication needs, and other event details Collect, analyze, and maintain data for use in retention analysis and to measure the success of engagement initiatives Use a range of employee feedback to regularly inform engagement, communication, and culture-building activities Help develop, implement, and maintain multiple methods to solicit and analyze employee feedback Conduct and report on market benchmarks, best practices, and trends in engagement Draft and edit communications, presentations, and other documents in support of engagement activities or other internal communications, and arrange and coordinate meetings and events Research and make ongoing recommendations regarding recognition experience, award options, and best practices In partnership with PaC Leadership, devise diverse recruitment strategies to support succession planning to ensure we build critical capability from the external market where internal gaps are identified Build creative and innovation engagement programming such as an Employee Referral Program and Career Development/Career Pathing Program External Outreach and Recruiting Assess and ensure the maintenance of positive working relationships within UA, UW HR, and the hiring community Ensure the effective execution of sourcing and marketing strategies and practices that build UAs network of candidates Monitor and report on industry trends, including trends in fundraising and higher education, and develop, recommend, and implement best practices for Hiring Managers Assist in the creation of recruiting content for external social media channels and other digital platforms Instill knowledge and understanding within hiring managers of high predictors of behavior and ensure objective, diverse, justifiable and forward-thinking decisions are made regarding talent selection Build recruiting metrics dashboard and provide ongoing reporting on ways to improve efforts Participate in salary-setting consultation and establish negotiation guidelines for UA units, advising on alignment issues, internal equity and market trends, and the external market Other duties as assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree and at least eight years of combined experience in recruiting and employee engagement programming, and human resource management. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience in strategy development, event planning, and project management. Demonstrated strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for correspondence, special reports, spreadsheets, databases, forms, and project management software, etc. DESIRED: Knowledge of project management principles and practices. Knowledge of the integrated advancement model. Knowledge of alumni relations/development/advancement principles. WORKING CONDITIONS: Cubicle/Open workspace environment which may result in additional or higher levels of noise and visual distractions. Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary, on short or limited notice. Must have regular and reliable transportation for local travel and willing to travel when necessary. Frequent local travel expected. Hybrid work environment.
