**A Day in the Life**

The Director - Education and Sales Training is accountable for employee technical and sales training plus customer training programs within Medtronic Canada to ensure safe and effective product use that optimizes patient care. The individual will partner with the Business Units to develop their internal and external training strategies and provide leadership in the implementation of these strategies. Manage credentialing procedures and programs for Medtronic Canada. Develop a standard related to training records and ensure the implementation of Continuing Medical Education (CME) business processes. Develop and implement sales training strategies for Medtronic Canada. Provide overall leadership for employee technical training, customer education and sales training.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

+ Plans, develops, and coordinates in-house product training programs for field support personnel and customers.

+ Obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs; prepares training materials; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids.

+ Ensures training program(s) meets company and customer objectives.

+ Maintains communication with customers to ensure effectiveness of training.

+ May utilize trainers with technical expertise.

+ Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.

+ Provide leadership for personnel involved in customer education programs to develop/coordinate/deliver national and regional customer education programs. consistent with the national/regional business needs across Business Units.

+ Participate in the planning, development and delivery of key customer education programs.

+ Partner with Sales, Marketing and key customers in the development of new customer education programs.

+ Partner with Medical Affairs, Americas to facilitate implementation of strategic programs within Medical Affairs, Canada.

+ Develop and maintain the Customer Education Procedure. Ensure all affected personnel are trained on the procedure and conduct regular audits across all Business Units to ensure correct implementation, review areas of deficiency where indicated and provide follow-up training in Cornerstone.

+ Maintain and develop relationships with Global Education Partners to facilitate technical training of Medtronic personnel.

+ Provide leadership in the development of new training programs. Customize training programs to meet the Business Unit strategies.

+ Provide leadership related to product launch training in consultation with Marketing, Sales and Education Managers.

+ Work closely with Legal and Compliance to ensure all education programs and procedures are current and align with Medtronic Code of Conduct and Business Conduct Standards.

+ Develop strategies to meet the vendor credentialing requirements of Health Care Organizations in consultation with the Canadian Leadership Council and MEDEC.

+ Responsible for the implementation, evaluation revision of sales, technical training programs for Medtronic of Canada.

+ Provide leadership and overall responsibility for implementation of the Learning Management System.

+ Develop strong relationships with the Americas Learning Management Operations Team and with the Quality Leadership Team.

+ Responsible for the development and ongoing mentoring of all Education and Medical Affairs personnel.

+ Provides ongoing input related to Business Unit Training Matrices to ensure currency.

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelors degree in Education (Adult Education or equivalent preferred) and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience.

+ Advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience is also acceptable.

+ Work experience in health care environment.

+ Previous training and education experience.

+ Conference planning experience.

+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with sales force and customers.

+ Demonstrated team building abilities.

+ Demonstrated ability in organizing all aspects of conferences.

+ Ability to travel nationally and internationally in support of business activities.

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) at all levels of the organization.

+ High attention to detail and accuracy.

**Nice to Have**

+ Masters Degree in Adult Education or equivalent

+ RN

+ Bilingual: English/French

+ Marketing experience.

+ Sales experience (preferably medical devices).

+ Knowledge, skill and judgment to review and revise immunization forms to meet current immunization guidelines.
