Oncology Data and Analytical Strategy Director role could be an ideal opportunity to explore.

As an Oncology Data and Analytical Strategy Director, you will work in a multidisciplinary, collaborative and scientifically driven environment, interacting with GSK scientists and external collaborators to advance our synthetic lethality pre-clinical pipeline as well as support new clinical indications for our approved PARP inhibitor, Zejula. This cutting-edge research addresses important drug discovery and development challenges and directly impacts GSKs R&D pipeline. Reflecting the importance of this position, the applicant will report directly to the head of the research unit and work in a matrix fashion with experimental and data scientists across GSK.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Develop and implement computational strategies to translate existing synthetic lethality screening data into new target proposals
  • Support the selection of appropriate translational systems
  • Identify new investment opportunities & participate in due diligence exercises
  • Collaborate with GSKs experimental functional genomics, human genetics, biostatistics, and biomarker organizations on expanding PARP indications
  • Participate in drug discovery project teams with GSK scientists and external collaborators
  • Serve as part of the unit leadership team

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, computational sciences, machine learning or biomedical engineering/biological sciences
  • >5 years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience working on Oncology or Immuno-Oncology related projects

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Proficient in a programming language (such as R, Python or SQL)
  • Experience with databases such as TCGA, GTEx and CCLE
  • Experience of analysing and interpreting multi-omic data, especially RNA-Seq and single cell RNA-Seq, including data from patient samples
  • Data science skills to collect, integrate, mine and analyse complex biological data and translate them into testable hypotheses
  • Demonstrated skills working in teams to find creative ways to address scientific questions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and developing leadership skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and with international colleagues
  • Experience with genome-wide synthetic lethality screens & data
  • Understanding of cancer and immuno-oncology biology (pathways, mechanisms, cell types)
  • Application of pathway and network analysis methodology
