Your Role and Responsibilities

The IBM Developer Advocacy Berlin team (DEG) for the DACH market is hiring developers that are passionate about open technology and have a keen eye for business trends. This is an exciting management position focused on running a highly technical developer advocacy team in Berlin. The overall objective is activating developers through community and ecosystem IBM programs in Germany /Switzerland/ Austria at metro cities, designed to nurture and inspire developers and build partnerships with local companies. This is a senior management role with responsibility to lead a team of experienced developer advocates and community program leads, who will engage developers, enterprises, partners and other organizations through developer events, including meetups, conferences, workshops, virtual and in-person hackathons and more.

This individual is a strong technical leader with a business focus, experience driving developer advocacy, developer evangelism, developer relations and building developer communities. The ideal candidate has a strong visionary and collaborative leadership style with a deep understanding of developers, open developer technologies and application development trends; excellent written and verbal communications and experience working with developers, developer communities both at enterprises and medium size businesses.

Externally this individual will interact directly with developers in the community. Internally, this person will work closely with offering management, developer marketing, IBM sales, engineering and engage with the world-wide developer advocacy management team for directions. This role reports to the Program Director, Developer Advocacy, Worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver an outstanding, personalized experience in the region to 3rd party developers and startups at scale, online and offline.
Develop an informed community strategy with appropriate metrics for measuring success, so that our developer advocates can continue to thrive, now and in the future.
Help define a plan to create tight relationships with IBMs most valuable and engaged 3rd party developers in the region.
Help plan online and in-person events for the IBM developer advocates, 3rd party developers, and startups in the region.
Capture external feedback that our entire division needs to hear. Share it by working with the developer advocacy, marketing, sales, offering management and development teams.
Lead a team of developer advocates and programs managers to create and execute a city-wide program to engage and win developers.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
5+ years of engineering or developer community engagement experience
Demonstrated experience in leading developer communities
Experience in engaging with senior leadership
Passion for sharing and for other developers' success
Great communications skills, including writing and speaking to technical audiences
Thorough understanding of modern software technologies, such as blockchain, container technologies, IoT, programming languages
Education: IT Science Bachelors
Languages: German and english fluent

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
4+ years of experience managing and running a Developer Advocate Team
6+ years of engineering or software developer experience
Arranging Meetups, Hackathons, Developer Challenges and large community events.
Recognized in the industry as a technology leader with public speaking experience
Demonstrated experience of advocacy for a technology, brand or cause
Education: Masters Degree or equivalent experience
