Data Privacy Manager (M/W)

Abbott is seeking an experienced privacy professional to assist with data privacy for its different business divisions and corporate functions in France. The successful candidate is an experienced privacy professional with a proven track record in collaboratively and pragmatically directing data protection needs and issues for a multi-national company. He/she has experience in presenting to senior executives and communicating with customers’ data protection officers, is a self-starter who successfully works in "virtual" teams and cross-functional working groups and works effectively with Regulators.

Qualified Candidate is expected to build effective relationships with business unit leaders and other clients, and to partner with Abbott's global Legal and IT organizations. He/she also works with numerous other privacy stakeholders around the world.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Informing and advising the data controller or processor and its employees of their obligations to comply with the GDPR and other data protection laws
  • Monitoring compliance by managing internal data protection activities, providing training and raising awareness on ongoing data protection compliance, and conducting internal auditing
  • Advising on data protection impact assessments when required under Article 35 of the GDPR
  • Liaising with the controller’s or processor’s designated supervisory authority on issues relating to the processing of personal data
  • Responding to inquiries from data subjects on issues relating to data protection practices
  • Paying attention to developments in data protection (e.g., new laws, key rulings, regulatory guidance) to share updates with the global privacy team


  • J.D. or equivalent degree is highly preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of global privacy experience in a multi-national company (medical device, pharmaceutical, consumer goods, or healthcare preferred) or a global law firm.
  • Privacy or compliance accreditation highly preferred.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with GDPR and other data protection regulations, as well as industry leading-practices and standards.
  • Analytical skills while learning new products and services to identify legal requirements and potential risks
  • Understanding of and commitment to the principles of Privacy by Design
  • Fluency in French and English
  • Be detail-oriented, highly organized and independent; capable of managing a wide range of diverse projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication, intercultural, and influencing skills
