IBM Communications organizations vision is to build world-class Communications for the business and a world-class team to achieve 3 objectives: 1) Improving reputation and relevance among all target audiences; 2) Build brand favorability and product consideration with Marketing and Global Markets teams; and 3) Expand Communications capability and expertise.

One of the key enablers for success is to build and infuse data-driven insights within Communications organizational processes and workflows to drive superior business outcomes. As part of this data-driven journey, IBM Communications team has laid the foundation for data and analytics by establishing common trusted sources and data services across 4 key focus areas

  1. Earned media monitoring and analytics
  2. Social media intelligence
  3. Online survey research
  4. A collaboration and analytics service for Communications content and assets


We are now moving to the next phase of the data-driven journey to derive deeper and strategic insights from our data foundation, that will transform our way of working with speed, agility and higher impact.

As a member of the IBM Communications team, you will play a critical role in helping us drive this next phase of our transformation with a data-driven culture, process and methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the organizations mission, vision and objectives and define/implement data-driven approaches to achieve business outcomes.
  • Understand the media coverage, storytelling impact and various Communications initiatives, e.g., earned media (traditional and social), content hub, events, PR activities and Communications expertise, e.g., PR/Reputation, Issues/Crisis, Content, Influencer, Executive Communications, Corporate Citizenship.
  • Provide data-driven insights and actionable intelligence and recommendations to Communications stakeholders using the Communications toolset.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement using strategic/analytical insights; measure the impact on results and, provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Enable Communications team members to effectively utilize data toolset and best practices to interpret data and derive actionable insights to optimize business outcomes; be the champion and show the way.
  • Understand current data processing and analytical capabilities and identify gaps and opportunities to streamline/automate current processes.
  • Assist in building data competencies to go from prescriptive to predictive to cognitive expertise for the Communications organization and provide project management for systems integration, as applicable.
  • Liaison with leads from each of the 4 foundational data platforms for increasing adoption and usage as well as defining and prioritizing requirements for product improvements.



CHQCOM





  • 5-7 years of experience in data-driven group with experience of building and delivering analytical insights for the business.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to find and tell the story behind the data to Communications professionals and executives.
  • Ability to manipulate and visualize data using industry standard tools; a data mindset.
  • Ability to evaluate and parse large data sets, distill findings into meaningful insights, and make recommendations based on these insights.
  • Ability to synthesize input from multiple stakeholders with diverse requirements to develop a cohesive point of view.
  • Self-directed with strong planning, communication, and leadership skills.




  • Possess the ability to come up to speed quickly on new technologies.
  • Hands-on experience using different data structure and query tools to mine data.
