The Credit Portfolio Group Manager is a senior management-level position in the 2nd line of defense in the Wholesale Credit Banking, Capital Markets & Advisory (BCMA) segment responsible for having close interaction with the 1st Line of Defense to drive prudent risk-taking in line with Credit Risk Appetite by having an active dialogue with banking, product and our clients, while posing a credible challenge in order to accomplish results by managing and/or coordinating a team or department to manage and monitor the Wholesale Corporate credit portfolio and identify credit migration in coordination with the broader Risk Management organization. The overall objective of this role is to lead the management of Citi's Corporate Banking (Banking, Capital Markets & Advisory Business or BCMA as know internally) credit portfolio in exposure to client and counterparties in Puerto Rico and Jamaica .


+ Lead all activities related to credit risk management for the assigned Corporate Banking (BCMA) portfolios (Puerto Rico and Jamaica) and ensure seamless coordination of credit approval and reviews with Credit Analytics area (ICM) and 1st line relationship managers

+ Be the ultimate owners of the credit approval process ensuring alignment to Credit Policies and Standards; and that credit analysis reflect proper due diligence with special emphasis on credit structure, rating, classification, and priority of claim.

+ Apply applicable guidelines, portfolio reviews and stress testing to ensure accuracy of exposure classification, ratings and timely implementation of mitigation strategies.

+ Strengthen the credit culture by acting with integrity, leadership, using sound credit judgment within the boundaries of our risk policies, properly and timely escalating issues, owning and being accountable for credit decisions.

+ Demonstrate understanding of policies and wholesale corporate credit risk appetite to challenge the 1st line in a constructive manner. Proactive risk management of existing, emerging and future risks through evolving geopolitical, environmental and economic cycles and disruptions.

+ Ensure satisfactory results in Fundamental Credit Reviews (FCR), proactive initiation of CAP openings on self-identified issues or gaps in controls, No re-targets/re-opening of IA issues.

+ Track and report on initiatives, performance results, emerging trends and opportunities to senior management

+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


+ 10+ years of experience in credit risk management for corporate names or equivalent training

+ Senior Credit Officer designation or in pipeline to become a SCO within 12 months preferred

+ Experience in the financial services industry with understanding of broad arrange of corporate credit products and solutions preferred

+ Demonstrated accountability for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/geographic regions

+ Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication

+ Proven negotiation skills often used at a senior level

+ Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with urgency

+ Ability to obtain support and buy-in across a wide range of internal and external audiences


+ Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

+ Master's degree preferred
