Harborview's Spiritual Care department has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time, on-call, CLINICAL SPIRITUAL CARE PROVIDER.

  • Be an active listener. Show that you care by being positive, supportive, discrete, respectful, friendly, easy to talk to, courteous, and welcoming
  • Communicate effectively in person and via phone
  • Willingness to learn and openness to supervision from Department Director
  • Member in good standing of a local faith community
  • Wear professional attire in accordance with HMC Dress Code
  • Wear ID badge at all times on duty
  • Adhere to the rules and regulations, policies and procedures of UWMC and the Department of Spiritual Care
  • Remain in compliance with yearly privacy training and health screenings.
  • Meet yearly with Department Director
  • Adhere to the safety and isolation signs on patient doors; communicate with patients nurse as needed
  • Honor shift schedule you agreed up to ensure patient care is maintained
  • Communicate with the rest of your team about visiting patients and coordination of patient plan of care
  • Complete an entry into the patients electronic medical record after each clinical encounter. In addition, when carrying the on-call pager, chaplains must keep an accurate record in the on-call log
  • Record all clinical encounters in the department statistics
  • Maintain patient confidentiality

  • On-Call Chaplain Additional Responsibilities:
    Provide a minimum of four on-call shifts per month. Exceptions are discussed with the department director.

  • Masters Degree of Divinity or equivalent
  • Have completed at least one unit of CPE in the ACPE Program, or equivalent. Equivalency will be determined by ACPE Supervisor(s)
  • Received recommendation of ACPE supervisor
  • Written verbatim of best work submitted to Department Manager
