Responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating daily shift operations to ensure flow and quality
patient care
!*!1. Plans, organizes and manages nursing duties and provides leadership in complying with governmental,
accreditation and other regulations/requirements and with hospital policies
2. Meets all Professional Competency Standards of Emergency Nursing Practice
a. Quality of Care – Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of emergency nursing practice in the
department
b. Performance Appraisal - Adheres to established standards of practice, including activities and
behaviors that characterize professional status
c. Collegiality -Engages in activities and behaviors that characterize a professional.
d. Ethics - Provides care based on philosophical and ethical concepts. These concepts include

others and other health care providers through professional collaboration.

3. Facilitates the implementation of departmental policies/procedures, mission, goals.
4. May participate in recruitment activities and staff orientation training
5. Participates in the nursing care related to assessment, promotion, maintenance and restoration of patients' health and wellness
6. Teams with manager to instill and reinforce QM principles throughout department and participates in
audits and feedback to staff
7. Responsible for monitoring patient flow and responding with the appropriate actions to expedite patients throughput
8. Facilitates communication with staff regarding department activities, policy changes, etc.
9. Completes Daily Staffing Assignments for assigned shift
10. Communicates with management to determine staffing needs
11. Self schedules in collaboration with other Clinical Leaders to ensure 24 hour coverage of the department
12. Works 32 hours clinically and 4 hours of on site clinical preparation, i.e. QM, daily staffing assignments, equipment availability, etc.
13. Participates in hospital wide clinical leader networking sessions

Qualifications:

- Graduation from an approved nursing education program. Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field or enrolled in an accredited program
- Current license to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Current Basic Life Support Certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention) within 4 months of new position and must renew annually.
- Current TNCC and ENPC certifications preferred
- Successful passage of CCH’s Pharmacology Exam
- Three to five years recent experience as a Charge Nurse or Preceptor
- Must demonstrate leadership abilities. Must possess good oral and written communication skills
- Three to five recent years of progressively responsible emergency center experience
- With all qualifications being considered, the final decision as to who is awarded the position will be heavy weighted toward the candidate with the most actual hands on patient care experience
Schedule Details: 36 hours per week, 7p-7:30am, Rot. nights, E/O weekend and holiday
