Clinical Engineering Work Leader

Job Summary:

Oversees and coordinates the daily activities for assigned systems, equipment, and/or personnel.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and maintains friendly and courteous relations with those contacted during the course of work.
  • Evaluates assigned systems and identifies design issues on prototype hardware and software. Serves as a lead, coordinating the work of others.
  • cts as primary contact or liaison for clinicians within assigned areas.
  • Provides subject matter guidance to team members. Maintains accurate documentation of equipment maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Education:

    • Associate's Degree in electronics or biomedical equipment technology, equivalent college level course work or equivalent military training.
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

      Certifications:

      • None required.

        Complexity of Work:

        • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
        • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

          Work Experience:

          • Minimum 2 years of experience in Clinical Engineering or related discipline and demonstrated proficiency repairing and/or developing specialized equipment in assigned specialty.
          • Demonstrated leadership skills preferred.

            Physical Requirements:

            • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stepladders and work on overhead equipment; work in a prone position such as an x-ray table in confined, darkened areas.
            • Sufficient manual dexterity to use hand power tools and work on small mechanical parts.
            • Normal hearing and vision or corrected within normal range with the ability to distinguish between color codes and to read finely printed blueprints and schematics.
            • May require some exposure to x-rays.

              Personal Protective Equipment:

              • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
