Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Chemical Process Engineer to support our US Oil & Gas business. This position will be located in Greenwood Village (Denver), CO.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

  • Performs engineering calculations, prepares specifications, performs analyses, performs testing, issues reports and maintains related data.

  • Prepares, reviews and approves drawings as required.

  • Advises the Supervising Discipline Engineer about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems.

  • Ensures quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks.

  • Plans and schedules engineering efforts associated with assigned project.

  • Maintains timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities.

  • Keeps proper engineering files and records.

  • Develops understanding of industry codes and standards.

  • Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with engineering assignments.

  • Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.

  • Complies with companys safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.

  • Develops an understanding of the role of each functional area within the company.

  • Conforms to company core values.

  • Acts with integrity in all elements of responsibility.

  • Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others.

  • Supports alignment of customer and company objectives.

  • Performs other related engineering work as required.

  • Willingness to mentor and direct junior staff

Job Summary for Chemical Process Engineer III:

  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

Job Summary for Chemical Process Engineer IV:

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.

  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.

  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.

  • Prepares technical specification sections.

  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Chemical Process Engineer III

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in chemical engineering discipline from a four year accredited college or university or demonstrated equivalency and/or education.

Experience:

  • 4 years of process engineering experience in refining or chemical process engineering and design.

  • Development of Piping & Instrumentation and Process Flow Diagrams ( P&ID's and PFD's).

  • Development and Optimization of Process Models.

  • Previous experience with upstream oil and gas production facilities.

  • Previous experience with midstream processing equipment and facilities.

  • Previous experience with utility process design.

  • Previous experience with sizing process equipment and prepare data sheets.

  • Previous experience with performing heat and material balance, hydraulic and relief protection calculations.

  • Previous experience with client interface on process issues and ensuring that the work of other engineering disciplines satisfies process requirements.

  • Experience utilizing Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or ProMAX simulation software.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

OR

Chemical Process Engineer IV

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in chemical engineering discipline from a four year accredited college or university or demonstrated equivalency and/or education.

Experience:

  • 6 years of process engineering experience in refining or chemical process engineering and design.

  • Development of Piping & Instrumentation and Process Flow Diagrams ( P&ID's and PFD's).

  • Development and Optimization of Process Models.

  • Previous experience with upstream oil and gas production facilities.

  • Previous experience with midstream processing equipment and facilities.

  • Previous experience with utility process design.

  • Previous experience with sizing process equipment and prepare data sheets.

  • Previous experience with performing heat and material balance, hydraulic and relief protection calculations.

  • Previous experience with client interface on process issues and ensuring that the work of other engineering disciplines satisfies process requirements.

  • Experience utilizing Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or ProMAX simulation software.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering License or willingness to obtain within one year of hire

  • Specific refining unit experience (FCC, Alkylation, hydrocracking, coking, solvent de-asphalting, others) experience is a plus.

  • Experience with Excel VBA, and custom Excel interfaces.
