Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Chemical Process Engineer to support our US Oil & Gas business. This position will be located in Greenwood Village (Denver), CO.

Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs engineering calculations, prepares specifications, performs analyses, performs testing, issues reports and maintains related data.

  • Maintains liaison with design and drafting groups.

  • Prepares, reviews and approves drawings as required.

  • Advises the Supervising Discipline Engineer about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems.

  • Ensures quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks.

  • Plans and schedules engineering efforts associated with assigned project.

  • Maintains timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities.

  • Keeps proper engineering files and records.

  • Develops understanding of industry codes and standards.

  • Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with engineering assignments.

  • Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.

  • Complies with companys safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.

  • Develops an understanding of the role of each functional area within the company.Job Summary

  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in chemical engineering discipline from a four year accredited college or university or demonstrated equivalency and/or education.


  • 2 years of professional or related experience in chemical process engineering and design

  • Development of Piping & Instrumentation and Process Flow Diagrams ( P&ID's and PFD's)

  • Experience utilizing commercial process simulation software, such as, Aspen HYSYS and/or Promax

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Qualified candidates should be capable of effectively communicating information both verbally and in writing.

  • Qualified candidates must be self-motivated, organized, and able to work productively with minimal supervision in a team environment.

  • Qualified candidates must be able to handle multiple concurrent tasks while managing and prioritizing daily workload.

Preferred Qualifications

  • FE / EIT Certification

  • Experience with Excel VBA and custom Excel interfaces

  • Previous experience supporting projects in the Oil & Gas Industry
