Our experienced team of specialists, nurses and other caregivers are committed to helping you choose the right options for you. The Department of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility has an immediate opening for opportunity for a Certified Medical Assistant- Days - 8hrs Shift. Under the supervision of the Service Line Manager and a licensed caregiver, the Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to nurses, physicians and allied health providers (Clinicians) working in the hospital licensed clinics. This person should be a fast learner, flexible, and have a positive attitude. **Primary Duties and Responsibilities** + Collects patient history and documents in EMR appropriately. Obtains all results (films, test) prior to patient visit. + Maintains timely patient flow and room availability. Assist patients with the completion of forms, as needed. + Follows hospital policy for the use of two patient identifiers. + Greets and escorts patients. Communicates / interacts with patients using Improving Service Delivery standards to maximize patient satisfaction with their experience. + As required by clinic, may measure vital signs, pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height and weight, pulse oximetry, and record information related to the chief complaint/ reason for visit and other required information in the patient medical record. + Conducts appropriate hand-offs or reporting process as defined by program workflows and applicable policy. + Participates in the patient check out process: facilitating follow-up tests, and referrals to other providers. Knowledgeable with referral system and ensures accurate and timely follow through with all referrals generated. + Prepares, cleans exam / procedure room and setup appropriate supplies. Ensures equipment, forms and educational materials are available and ready for use during visit / procedure. Maintain and monitor all equipment used for patient care and testing and reports discrepancies to supervisor. + Reduces the risk of health care acquired infection by complying with current CDC guidelines and CSMC Hospital Acquired Infection prevention policy. + Collects and prepares specimens and transports to lab. Follows hospital policy for specimen labeling and logging. + Performs unit office procedures including all general administrative duties as required (i.e. scanning, filing, faxing, phones, courier duties, etc.). + Acts as a transporter for stable, non-acute patients for testing or treatment. + Performs venipuncture if phlebotomy certified (CPT1) The Certified Medical Assistant may also perform non-invasive routine technical services under the supervision of a licensed physician, surgeon or podiatrist who is on the premises. The Clinical Care Associate functions within his/her scope of education/certification not to exceed what is permitted by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center policies, procedures and guidelines. **Educational Requirements:** High school diploma or GED. Graduate of a Medical Assisting program **License/Certification/Registration Requirements:** Phlebotomy certification required for venipuncture/blood draw. (CPT1) American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Preferred during employment, if not certified at time of hire: Certified by one of the following agencies approved by the Medical Board of California: 1. Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Credential: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) http://www.aama-ntl.org 2. American Medical Technologists AMT Credential: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) http://www.amt1.com 3. California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants Credential: California Certified Medical Assistant Clinical (CCMA-C) http://www.ccbma.org **Experience:** Two years of previous medical office or clinic experience required as a Clinical Care Associate or Medical Assistant Computer Skills: Demonstrates an understanding of technical knowledge in the effective use of computer support programs, electronic medical records and other aids for productivity.
