Position Summary

The University of Central Arkansas is looking for a trustworthy individual with a positive attitude to join the Student Accounts team as a cashier. The main responsibility of this position will be collecting and receipting cash and cash-like transactions for the University. The ability to work well with the public, providing excellent customer service in a fast paced enviroment is essential.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include processing payments on student accounts, writes receipts, processes refunds, and assisting in the coordination of billing. Prepares money for deposits, researching and reconciling various accounts, and resolves problems or conflicts with customers. Prepares daily report of transactions processed and monies collected. Balances/reconciles cash received with amounts recorded. Compiles data for monthly reports and maintains files for audit purposes. Answers telephone and greets visitors providing assistance and information. May assist in training new cashiers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of bookkeeping and record keeping practices. Knowledge of standard office practices. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Ability to research files, verify information, and complete forms and applications. Ability to calculate billing, fees, and penalties. Ability to operate standard office equipment including 10Key, copier and computer. Ability to compile data, prepare reports, and maintain files.

Skills Considered Essential for Success
Required Education and/or Experience

The formal equivalent of a high school diploma; plus six months of experience in customer service, clerical work, or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

Preferred qualifications include proven proficiency in cash handling and reconciliations with good technical abilities. A working knowledge of the Ellucian Banner ERP software and or CashNet is a plus.
