Cardiothoracic Surgery Inpatient Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Job Summary
The Inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery Service Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, residents, fellows, and RNs providing ICU and acute care services to patients and families.  The successful candidate will be responsible for providing independent and collaborative patient management throughout the continuum of inpatient care from admission to the CT ICU through discharge to the outpatient setting.  This position provides a faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery. 
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Current and valid state Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP
2. Graduate Degree from and accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant Program
3. Current and valid state PA license
4. Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA
5. Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment
6. Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of patients undergoing Cardiothoracic Surgical procedures.
7. ACLS Certification
8. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
9. Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Experience as an APP of 3-5 years in Cardiothoracic Surgery preferred
2. Experience as an APP of 1 year in Cardiothoracic ICU preferred
3. Experience implementing comprehensive evidence  based practice guidelines
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work on a dedicated cardiothoracic inter-professional team with other established APPs, critical care physicians from the Divisions of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiothoracic Anesthesia, Cardio thoracic surgeons, and Mechanical Circulatory support providers. 
2. Perform bedside ICU and Acute Car procedures
3. Provide a full spectrum of care for Cardiothoracic patients
4. Participate in the education of nursing staff and surgical residents
5. Participate in quality improvement projects and process improvement activities for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery
6. Performs other related duties as required
